Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 12, 2018) – Jack Dover achieved another feat last Saturday when he captured his 12th feature victory of the season.

Dover won the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints show at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., which was his seventh series triumph of the year and essentially locks up his third series championship in the last four seasons. He has a 210-point lead in the championship standings with only one race remaining, which is at the end of this month.

It also marked the seventh time in Dover’s career that he has recorded at least a dozen feature wins.

“The track was rough, heavy and fast for the heat race,” he said. “We snuck up to third right away and rode around. We were lucky enough to get in the dash and we drew a good number. We learned some stuff at the Jackson Nationals (earlier this month) about our fuel system and that was an advantage in the dash. We took off on the start and led every lap. It was the same way in the feature.”

Dover maneuvered from fifth to third in a heat race and he won the dash after starting on the outside of the front row. He capped the night by leading the distance of the A Main.

“The track was really fast all night,” he said. “By feature-time it was hammer down and you don’t lift. We lapped up to fifth and then there was a yellow with two laps to go. That was probably the best my car has felt out of the three nights it’s felt great this year. I could go anywhere on the track and it’d stick. I never struggled to get ahold of the track.”

Dover wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a special family function followed by a 305ci winged sprint car race at Eagle Raceway.

“It was my grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary,” he said. “I was there from 9 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. I wasn’t any help to the guys at all. They busted their butts and got the car washed and switched the motor. I met them at the track and the car was ready to go.”

Dover advanced from seventh to fourth place in a heat race, which missed a spot into the feature redraw by only one position. That lined him up on the inside of the eighth row in the A Main.

“We picked a car off every couple of laps,” he said. “We were running sixth when the guy running fifth clipped an infield tire and drove up the track and got us in the left rear. I was able to keep it going, but it ruined our torsion bar, shock and tire. We pulled in trying to fix it and called it a night when we saw the damage. We were probably a top-three car and that’s pretty awesome considering we don’t run many 305 races.”

Dover will return to action this Friday at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series. He enters the MSTS season finale ranked second in the championship standings.
