National Sprint Car Museum Staff ‘On the Road’

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (October 17, 2013) - The Knoxville-based National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum continues to be ‘on the road’ in the final quarter of 2013. Museum executive director Bob Baker is in Denver, Colorado, this week for the International Sports Heritage Association’s annual conference, while curator Tom Schmeh is headed to dirt- and pavement-track sprint car races this weekend, October 18-19, in Kokomo and Anderson, Indiana, respectively. Schmeh will present 2012 North American Sprint Car Poll awards while at Kokomo Speedway on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, he will also visit with Anderson Speedway promoter Rick Dawson about more ‘Little 500’ and pavement sprint car racing exposure within the museum.

Bob Baker and the non-profit museum’s board of directors will be making an appearance at the United States Auto Club/California Racing Association (USAC/CRA) Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway in southern California on October 31 through November 2, as will museum gift planning consultant Doug Lockin. The World of Outlaws (WoO) World Finals in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 7-9 and the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 12-14 will also be upcoming stops for Baker as he presents more 2012 North American Sprint Car Poll awards.

Museum special events coordinator David Herrmann began the month of October at the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, with the Maxim/Rider raffle sprint car and the annual Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR)/National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum joint auction. He will also be ‘on the road’ to Charlotte and Indianapolis with the museum’s tenth raffle car, in addition to a new stop at the inaugural Heartland Auto Racing Show in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 16-17.
