Big Game Motorsports and Madsen Cap Knoxville Finale With Second-Place Finish

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 28, 2017) – Kerry Madsen posted a runner-up result last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway during the track’s season finale.

It marked the fifth second-place finish this season for the Muddy sponsored Big Game Motorsports team at the half-mile oval and the 11th runner-up result overall.

“In one respect it’s good because you’re consistent and fast, but you also look at it like if we would have converted some seconds into firsts we would have a lot of wins,” he said.

Madsen opened the night by qualifying seventh quickest before he charged from fourth to win a heat race.

“It was a bit off for us in qualifying,” he said. “I didn’t get a good lap in. We were lucky to be seventh.

“We were really good in the heat. I was pretty confident for the A Main.”

Madsen ranked third in overall points entering the main event, which featured an eight-car inversion that started him sixth.

“It went pretty well,” he said. “We were close to the win, just couldn’t quite get it. Early in some traffic I was going to pass (eventual winner) Ian (Madsen) for third, but the yellow flag came out. If that hadn’t happened I would have been in front of him and who knows. We just needed more traffic in the A Main.”

Madsen maneuvered to the second-place finish, which marked his 26th top five this season.

The Muddy backed team will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. Madsen has placed in the top seven during all eight races at Jackson Motorplex this season, including two wins and three second-place finishes.
