Knoxville Raceway Unveils New Partnership with 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 23, 2024) – Knoxville Raceway—the Sprint Car Capital of the World—is proud to announce a new partnership with 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988 Lifeline), marking a significant milestone for both entities. This partnership will rebrand our weekly 410 class as the “988 Lifeline 410 Sprint Cars” making 988 Lifeline the first-ever 410 class sponsor for the Knoxville Championship Series.

"We extend a warm welcome to 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline as our newest sponsor," said Jason Reed, General Manager of Knoxville Raceway. "Their commitment to assisting Iowans in need aligns with our values. Through this partnership, we aim to raise awareness of their invaluable services and offer support to those facing challenges. It's an honor to be a part of this effort."

As part of this collaboration, race fans can anticipate messages highlighting the importance of seeking help in various challenging situations. A program provided by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, 988 Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers providing 24/7 free and confidential support to folks in suicidal crisis or emotional distress.

“This partnership is a unique way for us to support Iowans when they need it the most and highlight the importance of access to immediate help,” said Marissa Eyanson, Iowa HHS Behavioral Health and Disability Services Director. “Iowa’s racing community is state-wide and by joining with Knoxville Raceway, we know we can amplify our message that hope is on the line.”

Veterans, and their loved ones, have a dedicated line and do not need to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to connect. Veterans should dial 988 and then press 1 if they are in crisis or concerned about one. Whether here or from afar, race fans will discover that the 988 Lifeline can help Iowans, or anyone visiting Iowa, get through a crisis by dialing 988.

The “988 Lifeline 410 Sprint Cars” features a generous payout, with $6,000 awarded to the winner of each event, $4,000 for second place, $3,000 for third place, $1,200 for tenth place, and $700 to start the A Main.
