Wheatley Returning to the Midwest to Compete This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (July 21, 2014) – Austen Wheatley will return to the road this weekend following a weekend off and a refreshing trip home.

Wheatley and his team will potentially kick off the weekend on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, prior to Saturday’s season debut at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. It will mark the first of two visits to the famed half-mile oval before the 54th annual FVP Knoxville Nationals Presented by Casey’s General Stores Aug. 6-9.

“Knoxville is all about qualifying,” he said. “It’s really hard to just show up there and put laps together for the first time. I think running as many half-mile tracks as we did in Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago should help us.”

Saturday will be Wheatley’s first event at Knoxville Raceway since last year’s Nationals.

He will then tackle Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Sunday with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions for the first time since 2012.

“We go good there every time,” he said. “I think the last time I was there I set quick time and the track was really hooked up. They drew an eight for the invert and I finished with a top 10.”
