Tony Rustad Excited to Make World of Outlaws Debut Sunday at Huset’s Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – PIPESTONE, Minn. (Aug. 17, 2021) – Tony Rustad is looking forward to making his debut with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this Sunday at Huset’s Speedway.

“I think it will be a good time for us,” he said. “It’s a huge event and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”

Rustad acknowledges that while he won’t be a contender for a top finish, it’s essential for him to be in competition in the 410ci sprint car class at Huset’s Speedway whenever the opportunity arises.

“We need to race,” he said. “It’s really important for me to get laps whenever possible. Huset’s hasn’t raced the last two weeks so I can’t afford to sit out another week. I can’t get any better sitting in the stands.

“I’ll admit I’m a little nervous, but I think that’s normal for a 410 rookie going into his first race with the Outlaws at one of the most difficult tracks in the country.

“I’m not too concerned about causing an issue due to my lack of experience. While we’ve been spending most of our time on the track learning this year, I don’t think we’ve had a night where we were in the way. I don’t expect that to be any different on Sunday.”

Rustad’s primary goal for Sunday is to run as many laps as possible with any other positives being icing on the cake.

“It’s just all about track time and learning so that we can become better,” he said. “It’s difficult to expect to run very well with the Outlaws because their format puts such a heavy emphasis on qualifying. Just making the A Main would be like winning for us.”
