TRI-STATE “SPECIAL EVENT” SATURDAY FOR SPRINT CARS; BACON TAKES WEST MEMPHIS, RAIN INTERRUPTS LITTLE ROCK

This Saturday’s “Haubstadt Hustler” at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. offers $10,000-to-win and “special event” points for all USAC competitors. The event is co-sanctioned by the Midwest Sprint Car Series.

Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. has vaulted to the top of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series standings as a result of his 10th-place finish in last Saturday’s race at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. Darland enters this Saturday’s Haubstadt race with a 15-point lead over Jon Stanbrough, who finished 21st at West Memphis.

Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Okla. won at West Memphis piloting the Dynamics, Ind. Mean Green/Mopar Chalk Stanton Mopar. He caught Hunter Schuerenberg on lap 23 and led the final 18 laps of the 40-lap race to beat USAC National Driver Championship point leader Bryan Clauson, Schuerenberg, Anthony Nicholson and Robert Ballou.

Schuerenberg led the first 22 laps of the race, which concluded a two-race swing in the Razorback State. Rains unfortunately interrupted Friday night’s event at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock after qualifications and two heats had been conducted. Clauson posted the fastest time at Little Rock and heats went to Stanbrough and Jerry Coons Jr. before the rains fell.

Saturday’s race marks the third appearance of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Cars at Tri-State Speedway this season. Schuerenberg won at Haubstadt in May and Stanbrough won there in July.
