Tyler Bare Passes Jared Powell on Last Lap to Score Third Aaron’s Pro Late Model Win of Season; David Williams, Brian Maxey and Timmy Brann First ti

Jamaica, VA – The Aaron’s Pro Late Model division at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has consistently produced some of the best racing each week and they did not disappoint once again on S.T.A.R. Kids Night as Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA and Jared Powell of Charlottesville, VA put on a show for the fans in attendance. The two battled over the entire 25 lap distance with Bare taking the lead coming to the white flag and holding off Powell on the final lap for his third win of the season.

“That is the most fun I have had all season so far; we both raced as hard as we could the whole race. I have to thank my dad and granddad for the opportunity to race, I couldn’t do it without them, commented bare in victory lane.

Powell and Bare led the field to green with Powell darting to the lead. Bare shadowed Powell for the first thirteen laps before getting to his inside on lap 14. Each time Powell would defend the top spot as the two worked through lapped traffic. On lap 22 the Bare pulled inside Powell in turn 3 and the two raced side by side with Bare finally taking over the lead by inches at the line coming to the white flag. On the final lap Powell tried the outside but Bare shut the door in turn 4 to take his third win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Powell, Mark Parks, Brent Robinson and Ricky Wells.

In other action David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD took the lead from Buck Roadcap on lap 25 and went on to score his first Victory Lap Late Model win of the season. In the Budweiser Modifieds Brian Maxey of King George, VA inherited the lead from Matt Qaude on lap 7 and went on to score his first win of the season. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Timmy Brann of Warsaw, VA went flag to flag holding off Roger Jamerson for his career first win and in Collision One Limited Stock Cars James Givens of Henrico, VA scored his second victory in a row.

In the Victory Lap Late Model 30 lap feature Buck Roadcap and Billy Tucker led the field to green with Roadcap taking the top spot out of turn 2. Behind him Tucker, David Williams and Justin Williams battled for second. For the next 10 laps David Williams worked to get under Tucker for second and finally made the pass on lap 11. Once taking second Williams set out to reel in Roadcap. On lap 14 Roadcap ran up on lapped traffic allowing Williams to close on his bumper. Williams tried several times to get inside Roadcap for the lead and on lap 23 pulled door to door with Roadcap for the lead. On Lap 25 Williams grabbed the lead at the line and went on to take his first win of the season. Rounding out the top 5 were Billy Hubbard, Billy Tucker, Buck Roadcap and Darrell Dow.

In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Bret Hamilton and BJ Mongold led the field to green with Brian Maxey making it three wide as the field headed to green. As they exited turn 2 Maxey shot to the lead with Matt Quade following to second. On lap 3 Qaude pulled to the inside of Maxey and the two raced side by side for the next lap and a half until Quade pulled ahead out of turn for to take the lead.

It looked as if Qaude would pull away for his fourth win of the season but on lap 7 his car came to a stop in turn 2 with mechanical issues handing the lead to back to Maxey. On the restart Maxey pulled away as Brent Bordeaux and Hamilton battled for second. Hamilton would get by Bordeaux for second but could not reel in the leader as Maxey would go on to score his first win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Hamilton, Bordeaux, thirteenth starting Joey Polevoy and Jeff Solinger.

In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 20 lap feature Tommy Upshaw and Timmy Brann led the field to green with Brann grabbing the top spot out of turn 2. Brann set a steady pace with Roger Jamerson and Brett Adkins battling for second behind him. Brann missed his mark just a bit on lap 13 but collected himself to hold off Jamerson for his career first win and his first race of the season. Rounding out the top 5 were Jamerson, Adkins, Joe Weiss and James Snead.

For much of the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature it was a four car battle for the lead. Chris Champion led the first 11 laps with James Givens, Chris Maxey and Ryan Hutchens all taking shots at him for the lead. On lap 12 Givens finally worked under Champion for the lead. Once out front Givens never looked back and went on to score his second win in a row. Rounding out the top 5 were Champion, Maxey, Cory Bradley and Chad Champion.
