Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints
Lehr Wins 7/9/16 at Wilmot Raceway
Genoa City's Todd Lehr overcame engine problems in his heat race to win his third 20-lap Meyer Valves & Vacs wingLESS Sprint Series presented by the IRA feature of the season. "We had a problem with the rev limiter on the motor," explained Lehr, referring to his ending up not finishing his heat race when the engine died coming out of turn four for the checkered flag while leading. "My crew did a great job fixing it and getting the car to run perfectly in the feature. Doug (Schenck) did a super job. I knew what I wanted to do to get around him and the caution gave me the opportunity."
Schenck of Cottage Grove, the defending wingLESS Sprint champion, was leading when a yellow closed the field just past the half-way point. On the restart, Lehr shot to the inside of turn one and was able to power into the lead and go on to the win. Schenck ended up second; Derek Crane of Waukegan, Illinois third; Jordan Mattson of Milwaukee fourth; and Jim Scanlon of Zion fifth.
