New Lucas Oil Off Road Track to host AMA Motocross
By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- The tough trucks of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series won't provide the only action on the new Lucas Oil Speedway Off Road track in 2017.
The first Lucas Oil Speedway AMA Pro-Am Motocross is set for Sept. 29-Oct. 1 with professional and amateur divisions competing. The Nitro AX Tour is the sanctioning body and the event will be the fifth of the Nitro Summer Series.
"We're excited to partner with Jay Reynolds of the Arctic Cat Nitro Arenacross Tour to bring this thrilling form of motocross to our facility," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "It's something that I think our fans will enjoy and it should be a lot of fun for those motocross guys as well."
Event promoter Reynolds said the event will be one of the biggest motocross weekends the area has ever seen.
"The Lucas Oil Speedway off road track and amenities will serve as the platform for one of the greatest professional-amateur (AMA) events in the Midwest in years to come," Reynolds said. "Motocross racers and their families will be amazed at the facilities that the Lucas Oil Speedway will offer during the weekend.
"National caliber racers from around the country will converge on the Lucas Oil Speedway and enjoy the diamond of dirt tracks and facilities."
Some of those amenities the racers and motocross fans will find include live timing and scoring, camping with full RV hookups, car and motorcycle washes, swimming, a shower house and a covered grandstand.
Friday will be a practice day with gates opening at 6 a.m.and practice from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Action on Saturday and Sunday sees practice starting at 8 a.m. with races following. A highlight will be the Saturday Pro Class feature at 5 p.m., plus UTV racing and fastest amateur classes.
Sunday will conclude with moto 2 along with the Nitro Summer series 4 Wheeler classes.

The Lucas Oil Speedway 2017 schedule fires up with the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series opener on April 8 followed by the 4th annual MLRA Spring Nationals Presented by RacingJunk.com on April 14-15. A practice day is set for April 1 at the speedway.

Lucas Oil Speedway is located at Highways 83 and 54 in Wheatland, Missouri. A campground with shower and bathroom facilities is also available.
