Tickets on sale for inaugural GEICO Off Road Shootout
By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- As the new Lucas Oil Speedway season prepares to fire up with the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series opener on April 8, much attention already is turning to one of the biggest weekends in Ozarks racing history.
Tickets for the inaugural GEICO Off Road Shootout Presented by General Tire, set for July 21-23 on the new Off Road track at Lucas Oil Speedway, are on sale.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series event will usher in a new form of racing to this part of the country with the top off road short-course drivers in the world tackling the brand-new, purpose built track. Classes in action include Pro 4, Pro 2, Pro Lite, Pro Buggy, Production 1000 UTV and Mod Karts.
"The Off-Road track is really going to be something to see with side-by-side action and high-flying jumps," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "Off-Road racing is mostly associated with the West Coast and in the desert, so this is unlike anything in this part of the country in motorsports."
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series seven-event national schedule begins April 22-23 at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona. Other events are scheduled in Mexico, Utah, Nevada and California prior to the season finale back at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in October.
For complete information on the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, please visit www.LucasOilOffRoad.com.
Defending Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series champions are Rob Maccachren of Las Vegas (Pro 2), Kyle Leduc of Beaumont, Calif. (Pro 4), Darren Hardesty of Ramona, Calif. (Pro Buggy), Jerett Brooks of Alpine, Calif. (Pro Lite) and Hailie Deegan of Temecula, Calif. (Modified Kart).
Construction on the Lucas Oil Speedway Off Road track, which is approximately 6,000 feet in length with eight left-hand turns, began about a year ago. It joins a vast complex that includes the dirt track which plays host to the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series, "Lake Lucas" where the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Series holds two major events each year and the Slick Track where go-kart racing is held weekly and competitive quarter midget racing is coming for the first time in 2017.
