Off Road debut at Lucas Oil Speedway just one month away

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- What began with construction 15 months ago is nearing reality at Lucas Oil Speedway with the inaugural GEICO Off Road Shootout Presented by General Tire just one month away.

Tickets are on sale for the July 21-23 event on the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series, which will usher in a form of racing rarely seen in the Midwest with the top off road short-course drivers in the world tackling the new, purpose-built track just over one-mile in length.

Classes in action include Pro 4, Pro 2, Pro Lite, Pro Buggy, Production 1000 UTV and Mod Karts.

Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said workers have been making constant progress on the facility with the covered grandstand going up over the last few weeks.

"The Off-Road track is really going to be something to see with side-by-side action and high-flying jumps," Robinson said. "Off-Road racing is mostly associated with the West Coast and in the desert, so this is unlike anything in this part of the country in motorsports and we're eager to debut it in just one month."

Robinson said there is a limited opportunity for a VIP Suite at the Off Road venue for the three-day event. The price for that package is being finalized. The package will include: 25 VIP Skybox credentials and tickets for the event; a 20 foot by 20 foot skybox with luxury furniture, tables, a VIP host and dedicated grandstand seating for guests; dedicated VIP staff and security for the skybox area; 25 VIP meals on race day; soda, water and adult beverages available plus prime viewing.

Series points leaders are Rob MacCachren (Pro 2), Kyle LeDuc (Pro 4), Eliott Watson (Pro Buggy), Brock Heger (Pro Lite and Production 1000 UTV) and Brody Eggleston (Mod Kart).
