Trio of awards announced for Lucas Oil Speedway Street Stocks Big Buck 50 next month

In addition to the $5,000 prize for winning the 50-lap feature on Oct. 7 and a free entry into the Whitetail Trophy Hunt, the event has been enhanced in other ways.

"The Big Buck 50 has quickly become one of the premier races for the Street Stocks in this part of the country and a great chance for Lucas Oil Speedway to give those guys time in the spotlight," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "We're pleased to offer the additional awards, thanks to some terrific partners."

Tony Jackson Racing out of Lebanon once again will sponsor the Fast Time Award, with $500 going to the quickest qualifier in time trials on opening night Oct. 6. Jackson, a veteran Late Model standout, also has become a leading builder of Street Stocks through Tony Jackson Racing.

Ray's Lake Service returns as sponsor for the Hard Charger Award, with the driver advancing the most positions in the feature earning a $500 bonus.

James Ray of Ray's Lake Service in Lake Ozark Mo., said he's been a sponsor of Street Stock drivers Kenny Carroll and Craig Danuser (owner of the Whitetail Trophy Hunt) the last few years and enjoys being involved in the Big Buck 50.

"I actually work for Craig as a guide on the deer hunt," Ray said. "I enjoy watching the Street Stocks and my dad used to race those when I was a kid. We're glad to be involved."

For information on Ray's Lake Service, which has been doing boat lifts on Lake of the Ozarks for 22 years, contact Ray at (573) 216-1529.

Alamo Arms LLC, of Montreal, Mo., will award $500 to the first non-transfer car into the feature.

"It's a very popular thing and everybody loves this race," said Becky Carroll of Alamo Arms, who said she likes the idea of awarding a driver "who just barely missed" making the main event.

Alamo Arms LLC, is your go-to place for firearms, ammo and reloading supplies. It is conveniently located at the junction of Highways 7 and E. For more information, call (573) 346-9944. This October marks the fifth anniversary of Alamo Arms, which is owned by Tom and Becky Carroll.

The 2016 Big Buck 50 champion cashed in big. Tim Brown of Stoutland, Mo., took home the $5,000 winner's share and the free Whitetail Trophy Hunt entry. Then Brown won another $2,000 when he bagged a buck big enough to finish ninth among 189 hunters. That also won Brown another free entry into the 2017 Whitetail Trophy Hunt.

Street Stock drivers can enter the 2017 Big Buck 50 for $100 per car prior to Oct. 1 with the fee $125 after that date.

Action kicks off on Oct. 6 with a qualifying session and 10-lap heat races, helping to set the field for Saturday's 50-lap feature.

The 4th annual Lucas Oil MLRA Fall Nationals will run in conjunction with the Big Buck 50 and crown a season champion for that Late Model series.

This November will mark the 29th year for the Whitetail Trophy Hunt. For more information about the hunt, set for Nov. 11-13, go to whitetail.net or call 1-800-633-4868.
