Two-seater Late Model ride raffle this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway as Weekly Racing Series resumes
WHEATLAND, MO. (August 10, 2020) - When the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series resumes this Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway, one lucky fan will experience what it's like to speed around the dirt oval.
Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win a ride in the Lucas Oil Speedway 2-Seater Late Model, driven by track General Manager Danny Lorton, during intermission. All proceeds from the raffle will go toward the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation, via the Promoters' Race that Lorton will participate in on Aug. 20 at Dallas County Speedway during the USMTS Wehr's Machine Bullring Bash.
"The 2-Seater ride has proven to be extremely popular when we've done it the last two years and we want to bring it back for the fans again," said Lorton, who will be behind the wheel as the winning fan buckles in for a five-lap spin around the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks" during intermission.
"Bring your camera. We really want this to be a memory of a lifetime for the winning fan," said Lorton, a former Late Model driver.
Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the evening with the winning ticket drawn just prior to intermission. Tickets will be sold for $2 each, six for $10 or 12 for $20. Fans must be 18 years of age or older to participate and sign a waiver form.
The starting lineup for the Aug. 20 Promoters' Race will be determined by how much each promoter raises for the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation, a non-profit group that preserves area racing history and holds an annual Reunion and Hall of Fame ceremony each winter.
Meanwhile, the Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models will be featured with a $1,000-to-win, 25-lap main event as NMI/VMG Marketing Group and Wild Animal Safari team up to present Round 11 of the Weekly Racing Series. Pure Stocks will be the special guest class, joining the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks and Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods.
Pure stocks will race for $300 to win, using Dallas County Speedway Pure Stock rules and the MO-KAN Pure Stock rules.
Championship chases in the four weekly divisions are into the home stretch with only this Saturday and the Aug. 22 Rempfer Memorial Season Championship remaining as points events.
In this week's featured ULMA Late Model class, Cole Henson of Russellville holds a 44-point lead over three-time reigning track champion Johnny Fennewald and Larry Ferris. The closest race is in the B-Mods where Lebanon's Kris Jackson in 33 points in front of JC Morton. Robbie Reed of Mexico holds a 75-point advantage over Chase Domer in the USRA Modifieds and Stoutland's Derek Brown is 96 ahead of Toby Ott in Street Stocks.
