CHICO, CA (4-19-09) -Â The 2nd Annual Bill Brownell has been rescheduled to this Friday night, April 24, at the ASA Sanctioned Silver Dollar Speedway. The race was originally scheduled for April 10, however, that night was canceled because of bad weather. This race will still pay $3,000 to win for the 410-winged sprint cars. Sponsoring the night is Shane Scott, who was long-time friend of Bill Brownell. Also helping out on this night is Nick's Night Club, located 1414 Park Ave in Chico. Defending race champion Mason Moore is ready to take home the perceptual trophy once again. Joining the 410-winged sprints are the dirt modifieds and wingless sprints.
Racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.
Drivers will be eager to hit the famed quarter-mile clay oval speedway this Friday night. It will mark a three-week absence of racing at the speedway. On April 10, the races were canceled. This past weekend the fairground was having a Monster Truck exhibition. The first point race was held on April 3. When these drivers hit the speedway on April 24, it will have been 21 days since the last competitive night of racing. Needless to say, the pits and grandstands should be very excited to get back into the swing of the weekly Friday night Feather Falls Casino racing action.
Opening night honors went to Chico's Jonathan Allard and Jimmy Pettit. Both of these drivers will be geared up and ready to return to action in their respective divisions. Trying to break into victory lane for the winged sprints will be Sean Becker, Andy Forsberg and Brad Bumgarner. Taylor Simas, Brandon Davis and Scott Hall all look to dethrone Pettit in the Joe Hunt Magnetos point series. This night marks the first dirt modified show. It will be interesting to see this year's field of cars.
Thanks to www.theskipperpartys.net an extra bonus of $100 will be given to one sprint car driver at the end of the night. A random pill draw will determine the lucky driver. The money will end up in the drivers seat after the races.
Jacob Spath's NorCal Performance is adding gift certificates to drivers in main events this year. Spath owns a winged sprint car and plans on having it raced at most Friday nights this year. His website is at www.norcalperformanceparts.com.
Withrow's Motorsports and JP's Paint and Body Works sponsor the following Friday night.
