CHICO, CA (6-17-09) - For the second time in as many seasons the powerful and popular Western All Stars Super Dirt Late Model Series comes to Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday night, June 19, sponsored by Feather Falls Casino in Oroville. The ASA Sanctioned Speedway will also host point race number 10 for the Dirt Modifieds and Street Stocks. It's Stock Car Mania this Friday night.

Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is scheduled to begin with sprint car qualifying at 7pm. Adult general admission is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 and children are $5.00.

The exciting Western All Stars will make their only appearance of the year this Friday night. These NASCAR style dirt race cars are popular with the fans because of their close racing and side-by-side door banging action. The defending race winner, Bobby Houge IV, of Salinas, is the odds on favorite this weekend. He'll have plenty of competition from Nick Bartels of El Segundo, Ca and Chris Shannon of Merced. Shannon is the most recent main event winner for the series. Houge has a 40-point lead over Bartels in the championship battle.

Local challengers will include Chico's Richard Papenhausen, Marysville's Ryan McDaniel and Live Oak's Matt Micheli. The three drivers just listed have one thing in common. All have been former Silver Dollar Speedway track champions in the dirt modified division. Another local contender is Auburn's Tom Arbogast. This former Ernie Purcell Speedway regular has concentrated on the Late Model series for the past few months and is ready to mix it up with some of the veterans in this division.

The Western All Stars have around 15 events a year and travel up and down the West Coast with a few stops in Nevada. They have an informative website at www.westernallstars.com

Can Mark Abouzeid four-peat? That will be the question answered on Friday night after the dirt modified main event. Abouzeid has won all three main events raced this year at Chico during the point series.

The same is almost true in the street stock division for Phil Marino. He will try to win his fourth main event of the year, not consecutively, this Friday night. The only one to dethrone him has been Chico's Heather Bartlett.

One night only, all stock cars at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico this Friday night. Call the track office in Roseville at 916-969-7484 with questions.
