First Time in Sin City for Hafertepe
World of Outlaw driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. out of Sunnyvale, Texas, makes his first trip to the Dirt Track in Las Vegas. Finishing third in the semi, Hafertepe lined up near the rear of the field in the tenth row with the Fusion Energy Boost J&J to start the main event for his first time at Vegas. Sam charged up through the field early in the race, but a blown right rear tire kept him out of the top ten. “Earlier in the night, the car wasn’t perfect”, explains the third year driver, “We made some changes to the car going into the main and I think we did exactly what we needed to do. Just blowing the tire towards the end of the race obviously wasn’t what we needed.” Sam keeps his head held high going into the two-day “Mini Gold Cup” at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California coming up on the 13th of March as he has always ran strong on the high-banked 1/4 mile. The Mini Gold Cup of ’09 will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws for the first time since 1992 and it will pay $10,000 to win each night. Keep on track with Hafertepe and the gang through his website www.sam15.com for all results and press releases will be updated regularly.
