CHICO, CA (7-16-10) - Terry Schank Jr. locked up his second win of the year during the Inaugural Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprints Shootout Series Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway. Schank Jr. lined up in the eighth spot during the 20-lap feature event but by lap three he was the leader. Schank Jr. never faltered down the stretch and held on for the win. With the win he now leads Taylor Simas by nine championship points. A total of 31 drivers competed during the eighth round of the series. "This was a great car count tonight," said Schank Jr. "We had dropped down to the mid-twenties a few races and it was nice to see such a strong support of drivers tonight. This is a working mans series so for everyone to get up here on a Friday night shows the dedication of this group."BJ Martin passed Rob Russell on lap two for the lead. However, Schank Jr. took the lead on the third circuit. Martin stayed in the second spot until lap five when Taylor Simas made the pass. Jimmy Sills moved into the third spot on lap seven. Sills was coming off his win last Friday night. Travis Moore and Cody Meyers moved into the top five at the half way point of the event. Meyers got around Moore on lap 12 and began to battle Sills for third. Meyers moved into the third spot on lap 19. It was nice to see Meyers back at Chico and doing well.

Up front it was all about Schank Jr. At the checkered flag he held over a six-second lead over Simas. Meyers crossed the line less than a second behind Simas. Sills came across the line in fourth but missed the post race scales and was bumped back to a twelfth place finish.

Arvo Backholm was the hard charger of the night. He transferred from the B main event and started dead last in the feature. He charged from 20th starting spot and finished fourth. Backholm is a former winner of a main event at Chico and looked very impressive tonight.

Dillion Silverman won the ASCS Midgets feature.Johnny Reeves was also on the charge. He won the 12-lap semi feature and started 17th. After the 20-lap event he finished fifth. Reeves is relatively new to the wingless game and he has been very competitive on a shoe string budget.

Following Reeves in the B main it was Janna Spear, Jerry Cisco and Backholm. The 12-lap race started with 13 drivers and ended with four.

Martin won the first eight lap heat race. Zack Lynskey made a bold move to win the second heat race. Lynskey split two cars for the win that made the crowd get up off their seats and applaud his effort. Moore wont he third heat. Mitch Miller looked solid in winning the fourth heat.

Dillon Silverman won his third ASCS midget main event of the year at Chico. Silverman is a local kid who has a nice fan following at the speedway. Silverman had to pass Travis Haugh for the win. Haugh hung on for the second spot. Britton Bock finished in third place. Ryan Shupe came home in the fourth spot. Rick Young and Lonnie Alton rounded out the top six.
