CHICO, CA (8-3-10) - The annual Miller Glass Night at Silver Dollar Speedway will take place this Friday night, August 6. It will also serve as points race number 17 during the 2010 Feather Falls Casino / Riebes Auto Parts championship series. The 410 sprints, wingless sprints, street stocks and BCRA Midgets are all set to compete on the famed quarter-mile clay oval speedway.

Sprint car qualifying is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm on Friday night. Heat race action for all divisions will start at 7 pm. Adult general admission is $12.00, juniors and seniors are $10.00 and children $5.00.

Chico's Brett Miller leads the all star cast of winged sprint car drivers scheduled to appear this Friday night. Miller is in search of his first championship and is looking to add to his point lead this Friday night. Miller has a 17-point advantage over Jason York. Tyler Wolf continues to impress and lingers in the third spot. The gap between Mark Hall and Kevin Sharrah is 18-points. Those two drivers sit fourth and fifth.

Defending champion Jimmy Pettit is back up front in the wingless point chase. Pettit only leads Brett Youngman by just one point. As of now this division offers the closest point battle at the speedway and have provided some amazing racing. Terry Schank Jr. led last weeks main event but with three laps to go a flat tire that sent him to the pit area. Pettit inherited the lead and went on to win. Schank Jr. looks to rebound and get back into victory lane this Friday night. Schank Jr. is just four points back. There is a big drop back to fourth place where Rowdy McClenon sits some 30-points behind. Jay Youngman rounds out the top five in points and is 34-points out of fourth.

The street stocks return after a two week hiatus from the track. Heather Bartlett continues to pursue her second track championship in a row. Bartlett holds a 16-point edge over Scott Rogers. The two have produced great racing for the entire season. Bartlett has three wins this year, whereas, Rogers has not been to winners circle. Joe Longmire holds down the third spot and is 22-points out of second. Phil Marino is fourth. Marino has three wins this year. Matt Magenheimer continues to have a good year and rounds out the top five.

For the first time in many years the BCRA Midgets will sanction an event at the Silver Dollar Speedway. On the following night the group will travel to Placerville Speedway. At Placerville the group will have their Jack London Hall of Fame picnic at the fairgrounds. They are calling their two nights of racing the BCRA Hall of Fame Weekend. The BCRA Midgets have always played an important part of racing in Northern California. My racing roots came from my grandfather Rudy, who was a BCRA member and car owner throughout the 1940's. In 2002, I had the privilege of attending a Jack London Hall of Fame picnic at Antioch where Rudy was inducted into the Hall of Fame. It was a very proud moment for my family. Needless to say, myself, along with many others are very excited to see the BCRA midgets back at Silver Dollar Speedway.
