Silver Dollar Speedway Congratulates Chico's Own Aaron Rodgers and the World Champion Green Bay Packers
CHICO, CA (2-6-11) -Â Everybody associated with the Silver Dollar Speedway would like to congratulate Chico's own Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers football team in winning Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 on Sunday night. In leading his team to the win, Rodgers completed 24 of 39 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns. With his outstanding performance Rodgers was named the games most valuable player (MVP). While excepting his trophy Rodgers said, "This is a great group of men we put together here. We have a lot of character and been through a lot together. It's great to be able to share it with them." Not only did Rodgers receive the MVP trophy but also a new red convertible Chevy Camaro with 426 horsepower.
Rodgers went to Pleasant Valley High School in Chico before playing locally at Butte College. Rodgers completed his college career at the University of California, Berkeley, and was taken in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. After sitting on the bench and watching Brett Favre for the first few years in the league, the Packers decided to turn the keys of the franchise over the Rodgers in 2008. Three years later he is now a World Champion. In a 2008 article written by Bill Williamson for ESPN.com he inquires about where Rodgers grew up. Rodgers smiles when reminded of his hometown support as he is entering the biggest challenge of his life. "This is my home," he said. "I love Chico." And Chico loves it's Green Bay Packers quarterback right back.
