A Peek Into The 2012 Racing Divisions At Silver Dollar Speedway

CHICO, CA (1-12-12) - Silver Dollar Speedway has refined the lineup of race divisions for 2012 and is rolling out the revised rules to implement the changes for the 2012 race season. The tentative 2012 race schedule was unveiled last week on our website www.silverdollarspeedway.com

Leading the list will be the 410 winged sprint cars with no changes for 2012. The powerful winged cars will make a total of 19 starts for 2012 from March to September including the flagship Gold Cup Race of Champions in September. Tickets are currently on sale for the Gold Cup at the track business at 530-350-7275.

No changes will occur in the rule package for any of the sprint cars that race at Silver Dollar Speedway, but a new economy sprint car will join the weekly line up utilizing the popular Chevrolet crate engine or cast iron two barrel engines with limitations. The division is designed to have a low cost engine and use cast off parts from the other sprint car classes to make a cost effective alternative. Dozens of race capable winged sprint cars sit idle in Northern California that can purchase a $5,000 engine and go racing. The engine is also RPM limited to assure a long life to further decrease the cost of this division. Enthusiastic racers have been expressing keen interest in the new division.

The track wingless sprint cars will run both the weekly program along with the Joe Hunt Magneto series. 360 sprint cars will race numerous times in 2012 including some Friday nights.

The dirt modified division will see the greatest change with the adoption of rules similar to the national IMCA package for the Friday night weekly series. The division will be on par with nearby tracks and the competition will be closer than ever with the new guidelines.

The track Street Stocks do not see any changes for 2012, but addendums that had been adopted over time are being incorporated into the formal rule package and will soon be released.

Limited Late models will see some revision in the engine package for 2012 and will be the same at several area tracks. Those rules will also be finalized in coming weeks and be posted on the track website at www.silverdollarspeedway.com. We have also listened to the racers and added an extra event to the tentative schedule. This will now give the division seven nights of racing and allow them to run for a championship.

A new exciting hobby stock division was started in 2011 and will follow the same guidelines with the addition of a minimum engine vacuum requirement to keep the cars stock. The is a division designed to motivate parked stock cars to find a stock engine and go racing with no performance parts. Again, emphasis is being placed on making an affordable class that will involve local racers and is something the entire family can have fun with. Marysville and Chico will use the same formula for rules and close competition.

Also added on a more regular basis this year are the Mini Stocks. A joint effort to share rules has been made so Mini Stock racers have more choices on facilities. The cars remain the same, but the rules will be formalized and posted on the Silver Dollar Speedway website in January.

200 lap Enduro racing returns to Silver Dollar Speedway in 2012 utilizing the West Coast Enduro statewide rules. They will compete during the annual Silver Dollar Fair and on August 4. Arena/Motocross, Civil War racing, and a Destruction derby will also be part of the annual Fair in May.

ASCS National sprint car racing makes a Silver Dollar debut with a NBC televised event on July 27th.

The World of Outlaws comes to the Speedway March 23 and 24, and again for the Gold Cup on Sept. 5-8.

King of the West sprint cars are scheduled for the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial on May 5, June 8 and August 18.

USAC sprint and Midgets will make limited appearances in 2012 as well.

There have been some questions concerning the seven races to consist a championship. If you race in a division that has seven scheduled races, then you will be racing for a Championship. Even if a race or two is canceled because of wet weather, as long as there are seven races on the original schedule it constitutes as a Championship.

Information may be obtained at 530-350-7275 or at www.silverdollarspeedway.com. Please keep posted to our website for the finalized 2012 race schedule.
