Record Eight Championships on Line at SDS for 2013

CHICO, CA (1-6-13) - Promoter Dennis Gage unveiled his new 2013 racing schedule for the Silver Dollar Speedway offering a staggering and record breaking eight different championship divisions up for grabs at the famed quarter-mile clay oval race track in Chico. "We have to keep building these divisions if grass roots shorting track racing is going to survive for years to come," stated Gage. Gage and his staff are preparing for the upcoming season by meeting at the facility each week and chipping away at small projects. "The upkeep on this place is year around and we will continue to strive forward to offer the drivers and fans the best racing experience in Northern California we can," said Gage.

The astounding eight divisions running for a championship include the 410 winged sprints, wingless sprints, street stocks, dirt modifieds, mini stocks, economy sprints, limited late models and hobby stocks. The 410 winged sprint cars and street stocks will have 13 nights of championship point racing. There will be 11 dirt modified point shows, eight point shows for the wingless sprints and seven mini stock races.

The Silver Dollar Speedway will host the traditional traveling series like The World of Outlaws (WOO) on March 23 and returning in September on the 6th and 7th. The WOO will highlight the 60th Annual Gold Cup race of Champions. The big event will also feature the USAC non wing sprints, Midgets, Dwarf Cars and Vintage cars. The 60th Gold Cup will serve as a trip down memory lane with classic car shows, a 60th Anniversary book featuring photos and stories from every past Gold Cup, and a Gold Cup Museum featuring drivers and memorabilia from previous years.

Locally, the Hoosier Racing Tire Civil War Series will make three appearances while the King of the West series will make one stop in 2013. The first of three Civil War races will take place during the annual Silver Dollar Fair/Memorial Day Weekend on May 26. The other two dates include June 21st and September 4th. The KWS will host the popular Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial event on May 4th.

The first of 17 Championship race dates begins on March 29th and on that night will host the 410 winged sprints, street stocks, wingless sprints, economy sprints and mini stocks. Highlights of the championship point season include the Bill Brownell Memorial on April 19th, The David Tarter/Tyler Wolf Memorial on June 7th, the July 4th races with Fireworks and the annual Kids Bike Night on August 16th.

The racing season kicks off with the 32nd Running of the Silver Cup Race of Champions featuring two nights of racing with four divisions. The race is slated for March 8 and 9. Gage is offering two chances for practice at the speedway. The first play date is March 3rd, noon to 4pm, and a unique night time play date on March 15, 6pm to 10pm.

The Silver Dollar Fair weekend will offer a vast display of motorsports starting on May 24th with the second year of Arena/Super Cross action. The next night will feature the 200-lap Enduro. Civil War sprints will be the main attraction on Sunday night. On Monday, May 27th, the Destruction Derby will finalize the motorsports extravaganza of events.

Showing his commitment to develop economical starter divisions, Gage has scheduled four different USAC Ignite Focus Midget races throughout the 2013 point season. The Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Spec Sprint Shootout Series will roll into town on three separate shows. The traveling Dwarf cars are also lined up for four nights of racing.

The 2013 season will conclude with the 21st Annual Fall Nationals. Three divisions will line up to compete featuring the 360 winged sprint cars, wingless sprints and dirt modifieds. Gage has worked hard with other promoters to free up the weekend and allow Chico to host the only races for those divisions in Northern California.
