New sanction brings IMCA Modifieds to Silver Dollar
CHICO, CA (1-23-13) -Â Another new sanction will pay off on Friday nights for IMCA Modified drivers in California.
The point season at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico opens on March 29 and continues through Aug. 23. The 1/4-mile clay oval is the newest addition IMCA's Larry Shaw Racing Western Region.
"I've been in this business a long time so I'm familiar with sanctioning bodies and their programs," veteran promoter Dennis Gage said. "We have unity in some divisions in California but not in Modifieds. That's not good because cars can't interchange at different tracks if the rules aren't the same."
Silver Dollar used IMCA rules for its Modifieds in 2012.
"We had tried to make the Modified car count grow for two years before that with a different set of rules," said Gage. "Following a meeting of the minds with other promoters during the workshops in Reno, we decided sanctioning with IMCA was the best thing we could do for Modified racing in California."
A single set of rules shared by different tracks also makes enforcement easier.
"You've got to do something really devious to cheat these rules," Gage said. "These cars are equal and can be teched much easier."
Silver Dollar Speedway questions regarding the new IMCA sanctioning can be obtained by calling the track office at 530-350-7275.
