Silver Cup Kicks off 2013 Racing Season at Silver Dollar Speedway
CHICO, CA (2-19-13) -Â The countdown to the 2013 racing season at Silver Dollar Speedway has begun. In just 19 days the race track will host its first event featuring three divisions. The 360 winged sprints, IMCA dirt modifieds and wingless sprints are expected to draw more than 70 cars combined for the weekend of racing. The two night Silver Cup takes place March 8 and 9 and once again offers more than $40,000 in purse money. For those competitors wanting to compete in the annual event or read the rules, there is a downloaded entry form located at our website www.silverdollarspeedway.com.
Pit gates will open at 2pm while the front grandstand gate will open at 5pm. Racing is slated to start at 6pm for both nights. All seats are general admission. Saturday night will constitute as a Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Shootout event and a Nor-Cal Challenge IMCA Modified Series event.
Top teams and drivers are scheduled to compete at the Silver Cup Race of Champions. Big money is on the line once again for the all divisions. The winged sprint car winner will receive $2,000 on Friday night and $3,000 on Saturday night. Both the wingless and dirt modifieds will boast an impressive overall purse and a $1,000 payday to the Saturday night main event winners. Camping for the weekend is also available at the fairgrounds for $30.00 a night.
Driver entries are already pouring in. Sacramento's Willie Croft, Placerville's Andy Gregg and Auburn's Andy Forsberg have already entered. Add Fall Nationals champion Sean Becker, National ASCS winner Mason Moore and former Silver Dollar Speedway track champion Greg DeCaires to the mix. Wingless entries include Rio Linda's Scott Hall (defending champion of event) Roseville's Angelique Bell and local favorite Ron LaPlant. Dirt modified drivers include Chico's Richard Papenhausen and Randy and Ryan McDaniel from Marysville.
On March 3rd, the Speedway will host its first of two practice sessions. The Sunday play date will start at noon and conclude at 4pm. The other play date will be an intriguing night practice on March 15th starting at 6pm and concluding at 10pm. All divisions are welcomed for the play dates.
Don't forget to make plans to see the World of Outlaws on March 23rd at Silver Dollar Speedway. For one night only the greatest sprint car drivers on dirt will invade the quarter mile clay oval speedway. Five -time champion Donny Schatz leads a cavalcade of drivers including "the King" Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell and Jac Haudenschild. The Dwarf cars will also be part of this night's program.
