Racers and CDF will Co-Inhabit Fairgrounds
CHICO, CA (5-2-13) -Â Yesterday afternoon a fire developed in the area of Butte Meadows, about 45 miles outside of Chico. Because of the severity of the fire, the CDF will reside at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds for the next seven days with crews and machinery. The fairgrounds will provide food and shelter for the hard working crews who will be battling this fire. However, the races planned for this Friday and Saturday night will continue as scheduled. Friday night, May 3rd, and Saturday night, May 4th Dave Bradway Jr. memorial, will proceed as intended.
Fans and race teams are still able to enter the fairgrounds at the front entrance off Fair St. From there, the fairgrounds will have signs and workers to lead the haulers and passenger vehicles to the North Parking lot. Also, fans wanting to camp will be placed along pit road. There are roughly 50 spots with hook ups. Fair manager Scott Stoller is in the process of bringing in a shuttle to bus fans back and forth from the North Parking lot to the grandstands if needed.
Race car teams and haulers will also head down pit road and go through the normal entrance for the pit area. We recommend for fans and drivers to get here early on Friday and Saturday as we will only have that one entrance to work with. The rest of the fairgrounds will be off limits to anyone not associated with the CDF.
The Silver Dollar Speedway is excited about the hard work and dedication of all of our fans who attend the races this weekend. Numerous fans need to be commended for adding the extra money for this Friday nights point race and Saturday's King of the West sprint car show. We look forward to having a fun and memorable weekend of races.
