CHICO, CA (6-4-13) - There will be an extra 1000 reasons for sprint car drivers to enter this Friday nights, David Tarter Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway. Thanks to the generous amount of money offered by the Ruhs family in memory of David, there will be a special six-lap dash; winner takes all $1,000 to win. "We love our time in Chico," said Broken Hill, New South Wales crew chief Isaac Ruhs. "On behalf of my brother, my mum and the entire Ruhs family we are honored to be a part of this event and add some extra cash to put on a good show in David's honor."

For about three months the Ruhs boys, Isaac and Josh, call Chico their home. Josh is the older of the brothers and the sprint car driver of the family owned #99au. Both brothers live out of a hotel in Chico while working out of a race shop in Corning. "We basically work seven days a week for nine months back home so we can afford the trip out to Chico each year," said Isaac. The boys credit the town, the race track and extended friendships of race fans around this area as the reason they choose to spend their time in Chico. "We love that there are so many good dirt tracks close to the Chico area. Back home, the nearest sprint car dirt track is a six hour drive," said Isaac.

The format for the six-lap dash is as follows; six cars total, the four heat race winners and the fastest two qualifiers that transfer out of their heat race and into the nights feature event. Once the six drivers are selected, they will be rolled out to the front stretch for a random pill draw for their starting spots. The outcome of this dash does not determine the starting spots of the 35-lap main event. This is just a "dash for cash" as wanted by the Ruhs family. They also specified that the winner receives all $1,000.

The David Tarter Memorial will take place this Friday night, June 7th. Pit gate will open at 3:30 PM while the front grandstand will open at 6 PM. For more information please visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com or call 530-350-7275.
