O'Reilly Auto Parts Night This Friday
CHICO, CA (6-10-13) -Â Wells Fargo point championship racing continues this Friday night, June 14th, with a staggering six divisions. The night is presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts. Winged 360 sprints, dirt modifieds, street stocks, hobby stocks, mini stocks and midget lites are all scheduled to compete. Representatives of O'Reilly Auto Parts will be on site handing out special gifts to the fans in the main grandstand and bleachers.
Pit gate will open at 4 PM. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 PM. Adult general admission is $13.00, seniors and juniors are $11.00 with children, ages 6-11, $6.00. Kids five and under are always free. There is no parking fee when attending the races at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Friday nights event will serve as a chance for some of the top 360 winged sprint car teams in Northern California to test and tune their machines in preparation for the following weeks Civil War race. Confirmed entrants already include Grass Valley's Jeremy Burt, Auburn's Andy Forsberg, Roseville's Sean Becker and Chico's Mason Moore. The winged 360's will qualify, run heat races and a main event.
Chico's Kevin Lesch bumped Orland's Jake Vantol out of winner's lane on Friday night. We assume, Vantol will regroup and try to find some extra speed this week in his race shop. Paradise's Kevin Ward drove his best race of the year to solidify a second place finish. From top to bottom this division has the most competition with Mike Slightom, Richard Workman and Gary Newman all intertwined.
Chico's Richard Papenhausen ended Marysville's Ryan McDaniel stranglehold on the division. Papenhausen dominated the main event for his first win of the year. Look for Mark Abouzeid and Oreste Gonella, along with Duane Cleveland to end up back in victory lane on Friday night.
It has been over two months since we last saw the Mini Stocks compete at Silver Dollar Speedway. On March 29th Misty Castleberry won the only main event of the year for the Mini Stocks. Five drivers are within 10-points of Castleberry as we head into Friday night's showdown.
The Hobby Stocks have been a pleasant surprise this season. Decent car counts and close competitive racing have catapulted this group of drivers as a fan favorite. Duane Orsburn leads Jared Flower and David Pierce into Friday night's race.
The Midget Lites are set to make their lone appearance of the season this Friday at Chico. Scott Kinney leads the point standings over Brad Dillard and Stuart Goehring. For more info on this traveling division please visit www.bcraracing.com.
