CHICO, CA (6-14-13) - Misty Castleberry made it look easy Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway. The defending Mini Stock champion drove her colorful red, white and blue #95 to her second win of the year. Castleberry survived pressure from Galen Hainlin to get the popular win. "So far we have not lost a heat race or main event in the Mini Stock division at Chico or Marysville," said Castleberry. "Tomorrow marks James and mine 16th wedding anniversary so I want to dedicate this one to us." Credit should be given to Hainlin who challenged Castleberry for the heat race win also. Peter North started on the front row with Castleberry but quickly faded to the rear. Travis Carter was consistent all night and finished in the third spot.

Jesse Skidmore accomplished a personal best Friday night at Chico, he won the Hobby Stock main event. "This is pretty special winning my first main event at Silver Dollar," said Skidmore. He credited the win to the hard work they put in during the night. "We had to change a couple things after the heat race and barely got it done in time." Brian Compton won the exciting heat race when he started seventh and roared through the field to win the race. During the main event, Compton finished second. Chris Barnett and Scott Longmire started on the front row and had a good battle for the lead early on. Skidmore made his move around both of them and took the lead. Skidmore held a comfortable lead at the checkered flag. Compton, Longmire, Barnett and David Pierce rounded out the top five main event finishers.

What a great sight it was to see the ultra-quick and competitive B.C.R.A. midget lites race around the quarter-mile Silver Dollar Speedway. Former winged sprint car driver Scott Kinney showed the rest of the field how to get it done and won the main event. Kinney was all smiles in victory lane. "It was great to be back at Chico," said Kinney. Kudos goes out to Jeff Gieg and Scott Wilson. We were told both drivers raced in California the week before this race. Instead of staying the week, those guys drove back to their home in Colorado and then drove back to Chico to race here Friday night. "That's amazing those guys did that," said Kinney. Gieg led the early part of the main event but was unable to hold off Kinney. Gieg did hold on to finish in the second spot. Fifth place starting Joey Hoover finished third. Craig Holsted started seventh and finished 4th. Marcus Smith gained three spots to finish fifth. Bradley Dillard had a rough main event and finished last. Gieg and Kinney each won their six lap heat races.
