Mr. Excitement Forsberg Wheels to Victory
CHICO, CA (6-14-13) - On an eventful night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Auburn's Andy Forsberg lived up to his moniker as Mr. Excitement and claimed the top spot in the Non-Points Open 360 Sprint Car Main Event. "Thank you to Cody and PT Shocks for all their hard work," stated Forsberg as he climbed out of the Cody Gainey owned PT Shocks #7c car. "I loved the track tonight, it reminded me of the Silver Dollar of old," said Forsberg referring to the hooked up and fast track conditions tonight, that saw lap times in the high twelve second bracket during the Main Event. Second Place Finisher Sean Becker didn't seem to like the conditions quite as much, "The track was pretty rough. Andy blew the top off and created his own line and I could keep up, but I just couldn't get around him," stated Becker in the pits post-race. Other winners during Wells Fargo Points Race #8 included Misty Castleberry in the Mini Stocks, Jesse Skidmore in the Hobby Stocks, Scott Kinney in the BCRA Midget Lites, Jake Vantol in the Street Stocks, and Richard Papenhausen in the Dirt Modifieds.Cody Lamar returned behind the wheel of the Clyde Lamar owned 3c machine for the first time this season and wowed the crowd early in the Main Event. On the start Lamar would get the jump on the 18 car field and take the lead. Pole sitter Sean Becker however didn't back down and shadowed Lamar for the first part of the race in second. But the real story was brewing behind those two as Andy Forsberg drove to the high side of the track and started picking cars off. Forsberg drove around Greg Decaires on lap 8 in turn 4, then on lap 9, he drove around Becker and Lamar in turn 4. Becker would then work the high side as well to get around Lamar on lap 14. Sean soon found Forsberg's line and began to run him down. Just as he reached his bumper on lap 18 the caution flew as Chico's Brad Bumgarner lost a Muffler in turn 2 and was disqualified out of the fifth running position. That set up an always exciting Forsberg/Becker showdown that the Silver Dollar Crowd has come to expect on Friday Nights. On the restart Becker went to the outside only to see the door closed by Forsberg. After one final caution on lap 22, Forsberg was able to take advantage of the clear track and drive on to victory. Sean Becker came home a smooth second in the Dan Menne owned #75 and Greg Decaires quietly secured a very solid third place finish on board the Dale Miller #4SA. Those drivers were followed by Cody Lamar and RC Smith who charged to fifth from a tenth place starting position. Sean Becker earned fast time, timing in at a 12.517. Alissa Geving returned to Silver Dollar Speedway and won Heat Race #1 and RC Smith claimed Heat #2.

"Last week we had a fuel issue that allowed the #27 to beat us, but we got that fixed and were able to get the win tonight," said Orland's Jake Vantol after claiming his fourth win of the year at the Silver Dollar Speedway in the Street Stock division. Vantol had been knocked off his winning streak a week prior by Kevin Lesch and came back this week with a vengeance. The scariest moment of the night came on lap 5 of the main event when Paradise's Kevin Ward got too sideways going into turn three and rolled his car onto its roof and was than careened into by the 15 car of Eric Guthrie. Both drivers were ok. Brian Powell came home an impressive second, followed by Bill Hall in third, Shawn Smith in fourth, and Mark Newman in fifth. Richard Workman came home seventh after running second the entire race only to break something in the front end on the final lap. There were 12 Street Stocks on hand. Heat races were claimed by the #4T of Brent Lawrence, and #17 of Bill Hall.

Richard Papenhausen is showing signs of being back in top form. After a mediocre start to the year Papenhausen has now won two Main Events in a row in the Dirt Modified division. Richard led every lap of the Main Event and won by a comfortable margin. The show in this race though, was Ryan McDaniel. After starting in the 5th position McDaniel would work his way up to the bumper of 2nd place Mark Abouzeid of Chico. On lap 10 McDaniel would take the spot only to relinquish it back to Abouzeid on lap 13. On the final lap McDaniel would finally make the move stick to come home in the 2nd position. The top two were followed by Mark Abouzeid in third, Petaluma's Oreste Gonella fourth, and Yuba City's Duane Cleveland in the fifth slot. There were seven Dirt Modifieds in the pits tonight with the one and only Heat Race being claimed by Duane Cleveland.
