Mason Moore Earns Dominates 21st Fall Nationals
CHICO, CA (9-28-13) -Â Mason Moore was dominant throughout the night at The Silver Dollar Speedway and came away with his first career Fall Nationals Victory. Moore won the eight lap dash to earn the pole for the Main Event and held off Tim Kaeding for 30 laps en route to victory. "The guys set the car up perfect. I was able to get the jump and hold off one of the best drivers in the world." stated an elated Moore in victory lane. Other winners during the final night of the 2013 Fall Nationals Included Colton Slack in the Wingless Spec Sprint division, and Ryan McDaniel in the Nor-Cal IMCA Challenge Dirt Modified division.
Tonight's track was far and away different than last nights track and the drivers had to adapt to the changes throughout the night. Tonight the track really slicked off and took a lot of rubber. Thus making it a race of precision and saving the tires for the end of the race. Mason Moore did the best job and got the popular win amongst the hometown crowd. Moore jumped out to an early lead and would lead every lap of the Feature. Not to say it came easy though as he was pressured lap after lap, after lap by Tim Kaeding. Kaeding started outside the front row and slotted in right behind Moore just waiting for him to slip up. In traffic things really tightened up and a few times it looked as though "TK" just might make the pass. But each time, Moore would edge back ahead. In the end Kaeding just didn't have enough and would finish in the 2nd position. Rico Abreu stayed within striking distance of the leaders but never got close enough to really challenge for the lead, and would come home in the 3rd slot. Andy Gregg closed out his Fall Nationals with another solid run, Andy would finish in the 4th spot tonight after a 2nd place run on Friday Night. Steven Tiner had an impressive run tonight securing a 5th place finish. Jonathan Allard topped the field of 52 cars in qualifying with a time of 12.313. There were five heat races tonight. Those were claimed by Carson Macedo in the Tarlton Racing #21x, Greg Decaires in the #4SA tribute car, Steven Tiner in the BR Motorsports #94, Sean Becker on board the Menne Motorsports #75, and Andy Forsberg driving the F&F Racing #x1. Preliminary action saw Carl Droivold win the C-Main to transfer to the back of the B along with Chico's Brad Bumgarner. The B-Main was won by Chico's own Jonathan Allard. Rounding out the top four and moving on to the A Feature was Justyn Cox, Willie Croft, and Jake Haulot.
Ryan McDaniel was nearly unbeatable this weekend at the Fall Nationals. Ryan would sweep the weekend and also claimed the Inaugural Nor-Cal IMCA Challenge Series Championship with his win tonight. McDaniel drove a solid race and was able to work around his father Randy at about the midway point of the race, for the lead. Monte Bischoff had a solid showing tonight with a strong 2nd place finish. Monte was followed very closely by Randy McDaniel rounding out the top 3. As Monte and Randy battled side by side for most of the race. A total of 19 Dirt Modifieds were in the pits tonight with Heat Races being won by Kellen Chadwick and Ryan McDaniel.
The Wingless Spec Sprint Car main event was marred by many cautions in the first half of the race. But after all was said and done it was Colton Slack breaking through for his first career win at Silver Dollar Speedway. Slack took the lead from Scott Hall on lap five and took off. Slack was able to hit his marks lap after lap for the duration of the race and would take home the victory. Scott Hall would hang on to finish 2nd followed very closely by "The Human Highlight Reel", Geoff Ensign in the 3rd slot. Sixteen Wingless cars signed in to the pit area tonight with heat races being won by Colton Slack and Scott Hall.
