The 7th Annual Bill Brownell Memorial Gets National Television Exposure
CHICO, CA (4-12-14) -Â The national television network, MAVTV, will have their cameras rolling at the Silver Dollar Speedway on April 18th to film the 7th Annual Bill Brownell Memorial sprint car race. In a partnership announced in January, the Silver Dollar Speedway will get a 30 minute presentation solely focused on the Brownell Memorial sprint car event. "It was something that I thought was very important," said promoter Dennis Gage. "The speedway has lacked any national television for a while now and I feel that we have as talented of a Friday night group of sprint car drivers that rival any weekly show in America."
The actual television date for the race has not been determined by the Network. A follow up release will inform the public when the race will be televised.
The race itself is presented by Brownell's friend and seven-time track champion Shane Scott. Withrow Motorsports is also involved as they are going to give two drums of fuel to the night's hard charger in the main event. Local successful business man and sprint car enthusiast, Matt Shelton, is having his company, MJ Shelton General Engineering Inc., be the presenting sponsor for the MAVTV show. "Once again the local community of race fans is pitching in to make this event as successful as it can be," said Gage.
If the chance to succeed on television was not enough motivation for the 410 winged sprint car drivers on this night then let's add 2500 more reasons. The feature event winner will pocket a handsome pay day of $2500.
Former winners of this great event include Sacramento's Willie Croft (2013), Redding's Tyler Wolf (2012), Fort Jones Dan Menne (2011), Roseville's Sean Becker (2010), Chico's Kyle Hirst (2009) and inaugural winner Princeton's Mason Moore (2008).
Drivers expected to join some of the former winners of this event include Chico's Jonathan Allard, Auburn's Andy Forsberg, Campbell's Bud Kaeding, Fresno's Dominic Scelzi and Placerville's Andy Gregg. Local favorites John Michael Bunch, Brad Bumgarner and Keith Bloom Jr. are all expected to go for the win among many, many more.
Pit gate will open at 4 PM while the front grandstand gate will open at 6 PM. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $13.00, juniors and seniors are $11.00. Children are just $6.00 and kids five and under are free.
