Bloom Brings #19 Back to Victory Lane

Bloom Brings #19 Back to Victory Lane
CHICO, CA (4-18-14) - On a night where we honored the late Bill Brownell, Keith Bloom Jr. took the Chuck Wolf owned Number 19 back to Victory Lane at Silver Dollar Speedway for the first time since the passing of Chuck's son, and former Silver Dollar Champion Tyler Wolf's tragic accident. Emotions ran wild through the whole crew on the front straightaway. "I knew Tyler from the time I was 3 years old. This one's for him for sure." Other winners during tonight's Bill Brownell Memorial Race include, Brandon Powell in the Winged Economy Sprint Cars, Ryan McDaniel in the Limited Late Models, Duane Cleveland in the Dirt Modifieds, and Steve Hammett in the Hobby Stocks. The 410 Sprint Car A Main saw Rico Abreu jump out front on the start from the Pole Position. Rico would lead the first 8 laps but a mistake entering turn three caused Rico to spin the car and loose valuable track position. When Rico spun that handed the lead over to the #19 of Keith Bloom Jr. and from there Keith drove a perfect race to win his first career 410 Sprint Car race at Silver Dollar. Finishing second tonight was a very impressive run by Biggs, California's RC Smith. RC held off some of the best 410 Sprint Car drivers on the West Coast to finish Second, but that's not even the best part. RC Smith was driving with a 360 Motor in the car tonight against the big 410's and drove to a 2nd place finish. Third Place went to Campbell, Ca.'s Bud Kaeding in the Williams Motorsports #0 car. Andy Gregg ran a solid 4th aboard the Miller Fortune, GUTS Inc. #53 machine. John Michael Bunch continued his string of top 5 finishes with a strong 5th place run tonight. Sean Becker picked up the win in the 10 lap B Main Event. Heat Race Victories went to Lake Havasu City, Arizona's Logan Forler, Anderson's Keith Bloom Jr., and Chico's Kyle Hirst. Andy Forsberg won $100 dollars each from Withrows Motorsports, and Chuck Wolf (In Memory of Tyler Wolf) by setting Fast Time tonight with a time of 12.309. Disaster though would strike for Forsberg in the Heat Race when his Engine expired and they had to scratch for the night. Withrow Motorsports also gave away 1 Drum of Fuel to the Winner of the Sprint Car A Main, 25 Gallons to Second, and 20 Gallons to Third, and 10 Gallons to the Hard Charger in the Sprint Car A Main.

In the Winged Economy Sprint Car Class, Scott Gannett led 14 of the 15 laps on track but did not lead the most important lap. In his always exciting fashion, Brandon Powell powered past Gannett in turn 2 on the final lap after Gannett got caught up by a lapped car. Gannett would hold on to finish a disappointing second after running so well all night. Jason Standley ran a solid race and came home in the third position, with Ron Wyman and Gary Koster rounding out the top five. Ron Wyman captured the lone heat race for the Economy Sprint Cars.

Ryan McDaniel jumped out front early in the Limited Late Model Main Event and didn't look back. McDaniel won the Main event by more than half a lap over his father Randy McDaniel in second, and more family Duane Cleveland in the third position, Dominic Stone and Matt Micheli would round out the top five. Heat Race Victories were claimed by Randy and Ryan McDaniel.

The Dirt Modified Main Event was a very eventful one as there were a few caution flags back to back to start the race. Raymond Benekowski would lead the first lap before spinning in turn two and collecting Ryan McDaniel. When the race went back green it was Jake Vantol in the lead. Vantol would lead all the way up to lap 12 when his motor would go up in smoke down the front straightaway. Thus turning the lead over to Duane Cleveland who would lead the final 8 laps en route to his first victory of the season. Randy McDaniel would recover from a mid race spin to come home 2nd, Dustin Massey drove a strong race to come home 3rd, Tom Purcell and Dan Dozier would round out the top five. Heat Race Victories were taken by Jake Vantol and Ryan McDaniel.

The Hobby Stock Main Event was claimed by Steve Hammett. Defending Champion Brian Compton tried to make the move to pass him but had to settle for a second place finish. Jesse Skidmore would come home in the third position, while Kyle Allen and Shawn Holtman rounded out the top five. Heat Race Victories were claimed by Kyle Allen and Brian Cooper.
