Auto Racing Continues this Friday Night at SDS

CHICO, CA (5-14-14) - Tri Counties Bank championship point auto racing continues this Friday night, May 16th, with six different divisions of race cars ready to attack the famed quarter-mile clay oval speedway. This Friday night will serve as a "make-up date" because the original scheduled race date of April 4th was cancelled due to bad weather. The six divisions scheduled to run on this Friday night include the 410 winged sprint cars, Perma-Zyme wingless sprint cars, street stocks, mini stocks, limited late models and hobby stocks.

Pit gate opens at 4 pm while the front gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start around 7 pm. Adult general admission is $13.00, juniors and seniors are $11.00 and kids (6-11) are $6.00. Children five and under are free.

Princeton's Mason Moore is the current point leader in the sprint car division. Moore is having an amazing start to the year and holds an eight point edge over defending champion Sean Becker of Roseville. Placerville's Andy Gregg might be the fastest car this season at Chico. He had a win wrapped up a few weeks ago until he spun to avoid a slower car on the last lap. Gregg is showing a lot of dedication this season by making the long haul from Placerville each Friday night to race with us and should be commended for his efforts. Sitting in the fourth position is Orland driver BJ Martin. Rounding out the top five is Corning's Bud Walberg.

Tim Sherman Jr. is fresh off his first main event win at Chico during the Perma-Zyme wingless sprint car series. Sherman leads the point standings by two points over Don Emery. Johnny Burns sits in the third spot and trailing him is Nathan Johnson. Dustin Thompson rounds out the top five.

Ryan McDaniel is dominating the limited late model division. So far McDaniel has won both point shows at Chico in 2014. He will look to continue his hot streak this Friday night. Challenging him for the win will be Dominic Stone, Matt Micheli and Duane Cleveland.

Chris Warner won the 20-lap street stock main event this past Friday night giving him a six point lead over defending champion Jake Vantol. Shawn Smith has finished both of the previous point races inside the top five and sits third in points. Phil Marino holds down the fourth spot while Gary Newman and Mike Slightom are tied for fifth.

Jesse Skidmore has won two of the three main events this year during the Tri Counties Bank point championship racing. He will look to continue his hot streak this Friday night. Skidmore holds a 12-point lead over Kyle Allen and a 13-point advantage over Brian Compton. David Pierce and Shannon Collins are tough competitors and round out the top five.

Howard Law picked up the only main event of the season so far for the mini stocks. With the win, Law holds a two point edge over James Foster and a three point cushion over Shaun Merritt. Kyle Cheney and Jimmy Ford are tied for fourth.
