Sean Becker Finally Claims First Points Race of 2014

CHICO, CA (6-27-14) - When the Green Flag dropped on tonight's 25 lap A-Main Event for the sprint cars Sean Becker flat took off. Becker started on the Pole and led all 25 laps en-route to his 49th career victory at The Silver Dollar Speedway. Tying him for 4th on the All-Time List with Wayne Sue and Shane Scott. "The crew worked really hard this week. Dan spent a lot of time on the car, we just got the motor back from Ron Shaver yesterday and it ran great. Really want to Thank Dan Menne for letting me drive this thing." Stated Becker in victory lane. Other winners during Tri-Counties Bank Championship Points Race #9 presented by Butte County Sheriff Search and Rescue included Nick Larsen in the Winged Economy Sprint Cars, Shannon McQueen won a thrilling BCRA Midget Main, and John Philbert picked up the win for the California Vintage Hardtops.

Sean Becker and Andy Gregg led the field down to the Green Flag. Becker would get the advantage into turn one. He would continue to lead when the caution would fly on lap two as Bud Walberg spun in turn 3. Once the race went back green they only got another two laps in before Auburn's Andy Forsberg spun in turn 2 with a flat left rear tire. Than two laps later the caution would come out once again on lap 6 for 2nd place running Andy Gregg who broke something in the front end of that car. Once the race went back Green though Becker would check out from the field. Brad Bumgarner had a very fast Lethal Clothing, Nor Cal Performance #88 Machine tonight as he ran 2nd for 9 laps before feeling an issue under the hood and pulling to the infield. That would hand the 2nd position over to Mason Moore who would ultimately finish in that spot nearly five seconds behind winner Sean Becker. Kenny Allen had his best night of the year rounding out the podium with a 3rd place finish. While BJ Martin and Keith Bloom Jr. rounded out the top five. Keith Bloom Jr. and Bud Walberg picked up Heat Race wins. While Kenny Allen won the Tyler Wolf Fast Time Award for just the 2nd time in his career with a time of 11.772.

The BCRA Midgets invaded the Silver Dollar Speedway tonight with Shannon McQueen picking up the popular victory. McQueen battled hard for the win over the final ten laps with Taylor Simas, Sean Dodenhoff, and Brian Gard. All four drivers had a shot to win it in the final laps but it was McQueen who came out on top. Points Leader for the series, Sean Dodenhoff ended up 2nd, Taylor Simas finished a disappointing 3rd after leading most of the race, With Brian Gard and Scott Kinney rounding out the top five. There were a couple of scary incidents with the Midgets this evening. In group qualifying Chad Nichols' #17n caught a rut in turns 3 and 4 and flipped violently off the edge of the racetrack. Than in the Main Event, front row starter Britton Bock led the field into turn three on the opening lap only to also catch a rut and flip ending his night. Both drivers were ok after their incidents. Sean Becker and Sean Dodenhoff picked up Heat Race wins for the Division. While Taylor Simas set the fastest lap in Qualifying with a time of 13.792.

Nick Larsen was dominant in the 15 lap Economy Sprint Car Main. He would lead every lap en-route to his 2nd career win in the division. Jason Standley finished a strong 2nd, ahead of Scott Gannett in 3rd, Ron Wyman finished 4th, while Shawna Overton rounded out the top five. Ron Wyman picked up the divisions only Heat Race Win.

The California Vintage Hardtops invaded the Silver Dollar Speedway as well this evening. With 6 cars on hand they put on quite a show in the heat race. But come Main Event Time only 3 cars would make the call. John Philbert won his first main event in nearly two years. Philbert was followed across the line by the #77 car of Dennis Armstrong, and the #94 of John Fuller.
