Becker Wins #50 as Fireworks Fill the Sky

CHICO, CA (7-4-14) - The Grandstands and Pit Area were filled on this beautiful Independence Day. We gather here at the Silver Dollar Speedway each and every July 4th to celebrate our Nations Independence in the form of Auto Racing and Fireworks. This year was no different as we continued the Tri-Counties Bank Championship Chase in the form of Points Race #10 featuring Five Divisions including the 410 Sprint Cars, Dirt Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and the Economy Winged Sprint Cars. 67 cars were signed into the pits for tonights event with Sean Becker picking up his 50th Career Winged Sprint Car win at the Silver Dollar Speedway, moving him into sole possession of 4th on the All Time Win List. He was joined in Victory Lane by Ryan McDaniel in the Dirt Modifieds, Howard Law in the Mini Stocks, while Scott Gannett and Mike Learn each won their first career Main Events at the Silver Dollar Speedway in the Economy Sprint and Street Stock classes.

Mason Moore of Princeton, Ca. would lead the field down to the green flag with Keith Bloom Jr. on the outside front row. Moore would get the jump and begin to pull away. Moore would continue to lead through a slew of Cautions. One of those being a Red Flag for Keith Bloom Jr. who flipped off of turn two battling with Sean Becker for second. In victory lane Sean stated, "I feel so bad to be standing here in victory lane after that happened, I have so much respect for Chuck and that entire family, it was never my intention to get into Keith like that." Once the race went back green it didn't take Becker long to find a way around Moore. On lap 17 Sean got a good run down the front straightaway and dove into turn 1 right beside Moore. Becker would complete the pass on the back straightaway and go on to win his 50th career race here at Silver Dollar. Mason Moore would hang on to finish 2nd. Followed by another strong run by Orland, Ca.'s BJ Martin in 3rd. Brad Bumgarner drove a spirited race, inspired by his late "Uncle Bum", Jerry Bumgarner who passed away early this week. Brad would wind up finishing in the 4th spot. While Chico, Ca.'s Kenny Allen picked up another top five finish with a 5th place run. Mason Moore and Brad Bumgarner each picked up Heat Race Victories. While Sean Becker set the fastest lap in Qualifying with a time of 12.784.

The Dirt Modified Main Event saw Ryan McDaniel out of Olivehurst, Ca. Pick up his 40th career Dirt Modified Main Event win at the Silver Dollar Speedway by way of leading all but the opening 2 laps of the 15 lap Main Event. Those 2 laps were led by Alex Wilson who would end up finishing in the 2nd position behind McDaniel. Duane Cleveland had a solid night and came home in the 3rd position. Followed by Randy McDaniel and Michael Paul Jr. rounding out the top five. Heat Race wins were claimed by Ryan and Randy McDaniel who both put on dominant performances.

In a strange Street Stock Main Event that saw your three Points Leaders for the division finish in the final three positions of the 16 car field, Mike Learn came out on top of the Podium for the first time in his Career at The Silver Dollar Speedway. Learn drove a flawless race and stalked early leader Richard Workman until he had the perfect opportunity to pass him. Brent Hall also had a career race as he would drive all the way up to 2nd and as the laps wound down actually challenged for the lead. Richard Workman would hang on to finish 3rd in his best finish of the year. While Mike Slightom and Sean Hulsey woud round out the top five. Mike Learn and Chris Warner each picked up a Heat Race Victory tonight.

The Mini Stock Main Event saw a lot of Close, fender rubbing action with Points Leader Howard Law coming out on top. Shaun Merritt led a lot of the race by way of hugging the inside line. Finally though he slipped up just enough to allow Law to slip inside and take the lead. The win was only the 2nd win of Law's career here at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Merritt would finish in the 2nd position. Followed by James Foster in 3rd with a very solid drive. Jimmy Ford finished 4th in the BDK Racing #25. While the #6 of Kyle Davey rounded out the top five. Heat Race action saw Howard Law and Jimmy Ford pick up wins.

The Economy Winged Sprint Car Main Event was absolutely dominated by Scott Gannett who picked up his first career win here at the Speedway. Gannett won by a good sized margin over Points Leader Jason Standley who finished 2nd. Ron Wyman came home 3rd. While Shawna Overton and David Johnson would ultimately round out the field.

On a night where we witnessed Fireworks both On and Off of the racetrack, we would like to thank all of the fans for coming out. We had probably one of the biggest crowds ever here for the July 4th Celebration. We hope to see most of you back out here in two weeks for Points Race #11 on July 18th, featuring the 360 Sprint Cars, Perma-Zyme Wingless Sprint Cars, Economy Winged Sprint Cars, Hobby Stocks, and the visiting California Vintage Hardtops. Once again Thank You all for your continued support of the Silver Dollar Speedway, and Happy 4th of July one more time.
