Try Again This Friday Night

CHICO, CA (4-18-17) - Mother Nature washed away last Friday nights point race #1. However, the forecast looks promising this week and all signs point to championship point race #2 being held this Friday night, April 21st. Five racing divisions will be on hand led by the 410 winged sprints, wingless sprints, Earl's Plumbing Hobby Stocks, street stocks and economy sprints.

One of our favorite organizations to work with is the AKB (Alliance Kingdom Builders) of Paradise and once again they are sponsoring this Friday's race. This group is focused on assisting people in need. Please visit their informative website at www.akbuilders.org to find out more.

So far in 2017, the main event winners during our sprint car races have been a who's who of Northern California royalty. Paradise's Kyle Hirst, Auburn's Andy Forsberg, Roseville's Sean Becker and Fremont's Shane Golobic are all champions and each have won one of the first four sprint car main events at Chico. Locally, drivers like Brad Bumgarner, Chase Majdic, Michael Ing and Kenny Allen are all potential first time winners at Silver Dollar Speedway in 2017. Yet, Forsberg has set his sights on this year's track title and will be favorite heading into this Friday nights race.

Speaking of Auburn, another driver sits atop the street stock standings and is tied with Chico's own Phil Marino. Brent Lawrence had a solid opening night and accumulated 48 total points. Marino, by his win, also scored 48 points. Cottonwoods Richard Workman and Gary Newman are tied with 47 points.

The other three divisions, wingless, Earl's Plumbing Hobby Stocks and economy sprints are all looking to get their first point show in this Friday night.

The CEO of Thunderhill Raceway in Willows is bringing the Oil Recycling Rocks campaign to Silver Dollar Speedway. Vodden will be on hand this Friday night to offer information and knowledge about the oil recycling program in Butte County.

The pit gate will open at 4 PM while the front grandstands will open at 6 PM. Racing is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. Friday night April 14th, the adult general admission ticket will cost $14.00. On this night seniors and juniors are $12.00 with children just $6.00. Kids five and under are FREE.

To avoid standing in long lines the Speedway now has an on-line purchase tickets option located at www.silverdollarspeedway.com.
