Shark Sighting at Silver Dollar Speedway This Friday Night

Chico, CA (March 29, 2018) …. As of this week it was uncertain if a shark sighting would take place this Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Of course, we already announced that the Easter Bunny will make an appearance for the kids during their Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow night. Now, they will get to see a Shark also. Roseville’s Sean Becker, known as The Shark, will pilot the familiar Menne Ranch / Cherry St. Mini Storage No. 75 in Friday nights season opener. Becker’s car owner, Dan Menne, confirmed via text about 3:30 PM on Thursday that they will be racing. Becker is a six-time track champion at Chico and as popular of a driver that the Speedway has enjoyed over the past twenty-years.
Becker will join an already all-star line up of sprint car drivers including St. Helena’s Rico Abreu, Minden, Nevada’s Tanner Thorson and Auburn’s Andy Forsberg. Upwards of 20 sprint car drivers are scheduled to attend tomorrows race.
The 2018 championship point season gets underway this Friday night, March 30th, at the historic Silver Dollar Speedway. Four divisions are scheduled to compete led by the popular winged sprint cars, sport mods, street stocks and hobby stocks.
Not only should the first point race of the season be well attended by cars and fans alike, the speedway will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt for the kids during one of the night’s intermission. The traditional egg hunt will have different designated areas with similar age groups to allow the youngest kids to still have a fair shot at getting a lot of eggs. It is also reported that the Easter Bunny will be making an appearance. This Friday night should be a nice chance to take the family to the races and let the youngsters get a chance to collect some cool eggs.
Pit gate will open at 4 PM for the competitors. Grandstand gate opens at 6 PM each night. Racing is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM. Adult admission on Friday night is $14.00, juniors and seniors $12.00, children $6.00 (ages 6-11) and kids 5 and under are free.
College students with proper identification can get in for $6.00 during all weekly point races.
