Justin Foux Gets First Career Win at Chico
CHICO, CA (May 5, 2018) – Red Bluff’s Justin Foux picked up his first career win at Silver Dollar Speedway in the IMCA Sport Mods on Saturday night. Foux also won the first heat race of the night giving him and his team the clean sweep. Foux started the main event in the fifth position and methodically moved his way into second by lap eight.
A few cautions slowed the event with the first one coming on lap eight when Brian Cooper and Tyler Rodgers were charged with the yellow flag. The next lap saw Mike Merritt tangle with Zach Potts in turn one. Up to that point, Jesse Skidmore has held the lead and was driving the perfect race. However, at the half way point on lap ten, Skidmore couldn’t keep the charging Foux behind him. Foux took the lead on lap 11 and went on to finish the race almost four-seconds ahead of second place finisher Jimmy Ford. Even though Foux was alone up front, the final five laps were exciting as Ford was racing with Andrew Peckham and Brian Cooper. On lap 17, Cooper passed Peckham for third. Ford, Cooper and Peckham were all within one-second of each other on the lap 20 finish. Damian Merritt rounded out the top five. Skidmore drifted back and finished sixth. Tyler Rodgers came home in the seventh spot. Jim Lipke won the second heat race. Thirteen IMCA Sport Mods started the 20-lap feature.
