Sean Becker Back in Victory Lane

Chico, CA (July 27, 2018) …. Sean Becker picked up his 62nd career sprint car win at Silver Dollar Speedway during Friday nights point show. Yet, it had been 11 months since Becker won a race at Chico. Becker was enthusiastic in victory lane and you could tell he was relived to also get the Menne Motorsports team on the front stretch too.
Becker led all 25-laps of the main event. He beat Mason Moore into turn one on the original start and never looked back. The race was slowed by just a few cautions. The yellow flag was the only thing that decelerated Becker. Mason Moore ran second most of the event. However, a six-place starting Andy Forsberg pressured Moore the final few laps for second. On the final lap, Forsberg made the top side work and passed Moore. Kalib Henry turned in another robust performance and finished fourth. Shawn Conde went from the 11th starting spot to finish fifth.
Forsberg turned the quickest lap in qualifying at an 11.749. Heat races were won by Mason Moore and Cody Hodgson.
Shawn Jones dominated the wingless sprint car main event. Jones led all 20-laps and held almost a seven second advantage over second place finisher Tony Richards. Brett Youngman finished third. Matt Haulot made his first start at Chico and finished fourth. Kelly Hicks completed six laps and finished in fifth. Jones won the eight-lap heat race to sweep the nights racing action.
Phil Marino led the first half of the Street Stock main event. Yet, Marino veered to the right and exited the race track. In doing so the new leader was Steve Studebaker. Corey Hall was catching Studebaker and by lap 15 was a car length back of the lead. On the next lap, Hall took the lead. Hall went on to pick up his fourth win of the year at Chico. Richard Workman finished in the second spot. Third went to Ken Micheli. Gary Newman and Fritz Zanker rounded out the top five. Hall also won the heat race tonight.
Shannon Collins led the first five laps during the Earl’s Plumbing Hobby Stock main event. On the sixth lap, James West made the move around Collins for the lead. West would go on to win the race, yet, it wasn’t just that easy. Collins continued to pressure West for the lead. If that wasn’t exciting enough, Colin Ferguson closed in on both leaders during the final five laps. The final two laps featured these three drivers going for the win. West was able to stay up front and get his second consecutive win. Collins was second and Ferguson was third. Mel Byers came home fourth. Ferguson won the only heat race of the night.
