FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Annual Kid’s Bike Night This Friday

Chico, CA (July 31, 2018) …. The popular Kid’s Bike Night returns this Friday, August 3rd, to the Silver Dollar Speedway. Kids, 11 years of age and younger, will be admitted FREE. Kids are also encouraged to bring their own bike because after all the heat races are completed, the track is opened for the bike races that take place on the front stretch. The older kids will do one complete lap. Everyone who participates gets a trophy or ribbon depending on where they finish.
Not only is this fun for the kids, but numerous drivers come out to the front stretch and help with the proceedings. Driver’s like to play the role of the flag man or hand out the trophies at the finish line. It is a great way to involve the drivers and all the young fans who participate.
Wyatt Brown Racing, Burkett’s Automotive and ManCamp Motorsports have donated four bikes to raffle off during the night. All kids who enter the track will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a new bike.
The pit gate will open at 4 PM while the front grandstands will open at 6 PM. Racing is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. The adult general admission ticket will cost. On this night seniors and juniors are $12.00. Kids 11 and under are FREE.
To avoid standing in long lines the Speedway now has an on-line purchase tickets option located at www.silverdollarspeedway.com.
Four action packed divisions headline point race #13 led by the winged 360 sprint cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Earl’s Plumbing Hobby Stocks and Street Stocks.
Mason Moore is two points ahead of Andy Forsberg coming into the second to last point race of the season. Moore is also four points ahead of Kalib Henry. Every point is so valuable each time these drivers line up on the speedway. Drivers earn up to 5 points for being the fastest qualifier and winning a heat race. Positions second through five are deducted by one point. The main event win will earn a driver 40 points and then deduct one point until all drivers have earned finishing points.
Brian Cooper holds a 40-point edge over Damian Merritt. Tyler Rodgers, has 334 total points, and sits in the third spot just five points behind Merritt and one point ahead of Andrew Peckham. The Sport Mods are off on August 17th but return on August 24th for the finale. So, this Friday night, is also very important for drivers to show up and earn as many points as possible.
Earl’s Plumbing Hobby Stock point leader Jeremy Langenderfer was forced to make one lap last Friday night and pull off the track during the main event. Mechanical issues bothered him all night. This allowed James West to close to within 21 championship points of Langenderfer. West also secured his second consecutive win of the season. Colin Ferguson is third in points and only two back of West. Mel Byers sits in fourth just two back of Ferguson. The hobby stocks still have three races to go.
Street Stock division continues to be dominated by Corey Hall. With his four wins out of ten starts, Hall holds a 51-point advantage over Gary Newman and a staggering 82-point edge over third place Richard Workman.
