Racing Resumes this Friday After Long Hiatus

Chico, CA (June 3, 2019) …. After a ridiculously long break, the sights and sounds of grass roots dirt track racing resume this Friday night, June 7th, at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The last time the stars and cars hit the speedway was 28 days prior on May 10th. With that said, both the fans and drivers are restless to get back to our happy place.
Heather Cooper, Keller Williams Realtors, presents the fourth point race of 2019 featuring 360 winged sprints, hobby stocks, street stocks and vintage hardtops.
Pit gate opens at 4 PM. Front grandstand gate opens at 6 PM. Adult general admission is $15.00. Seniors (62+) and juniors (12-15) and military with proper i.d. are $13.00. Children (6-11) are $6.00. Kids five and under are FREE. Parking for fans is FREE. Racing is slated to start at 7 PM.
The Speedway is proud to once again host our good friends from the Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team. The Speedway will serve as a fund raiser to help raise awareness and finances to help pay items that helps this all volunteer group do their jobs more effectively. In turn, the Search and Rescue team will show our fans what their team does to help protect the Butte County community.
Even with only two sprint car point shows completed, a total of 36 different drivers have earned championship points. The division is led by Fremont’s Shane Golobic, however, Golobic is headed back to the Midwest for midget racing. This should open the door for other competitors such as Justyn Cox, second in points, Kalib Henry, third in points. Rounding out the top five are Roseville’s Sean Becker and Auburn’s Andy Forsberg.
Cherokee’s Kyle Allen continues to be the driver to beat in the Hobby Stock division. Allen has won all three previous races in 2019. Because of his dominance, he leads Shannon Collins by 12-points. Mel Byers, James West and Travis Moore round of the top five.
For the first time in 2019, the Street Stocks will showcase their driving talents. In a season filled with rain outs, the Street Stocks have yet to hit the track for a point show. This in an uncharacteristic thing to happen so late into the racing season.
Vintage Hardtops are also on the schedule for the first time this season.
