There is a youthful movement in the winged 360 sprint car division. Current point leader Andy Forsberg will be a no show on July 4th. That leaves us with a lot of unfamiliar names in the points behind him. Tracey, CA driver Kyle Offill is just 18 years old and is barely ahead of fellow 18-year-old Chelsea Blevins. Fifteen-year-old Blake Carrick is fourth in points. The top five in points is rounded out by rookie driver Angelo Cornett of Willows.
Live Oak’s Matt Micheli is enjoying a sizeable lead in the IMCA Sport Mod division. Micheli holds a 35-point edge over teenager Tyler Rodgers. Brian Cooper and Scott Savell are both inside the top five.
Cherokee’s Kyle Allen is undefeated at the Silver Dollar Speedway this season. Allen has won all four of the main events this year. He holds a 16-point edge over Shannon Collins. James West is ready to get back to victory lane and sits in third. Mel Byers holds down the fourth spot. Jeremiah Creedon rounds out the top five.
The tightest battle for the championship is in the Street Stocks. Grass Valley’s Brent Lawrence holds a one-point edge over Matt Micheli. Lawrence has one win while Micheli has two-wins. Richard Workman, Ken Micheli and Gary Newman round out the top five.
