Schedule Release for 2021
(Chico, CA 1/25/2021) …Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the Silver Dollar Speedway is only able to release a partial schedule for the upcoming 2021 season. The safety of our fans and teams are at our utmost importance as we all navigate this ever-changing landscape. We are optimistic that things are headed in the right direction and we will constantly be updating our schedule to hopefully add more events as the year plays out. The Speedway wants to also thank the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds with their continued support of dirt track racing.
The season is set to kick off with the annual Silver Cup Race of Champions on March 5th and 6th. Winged 360 sprints and Dwarf Cars are slated. As of now, this race will be held without fans allowed in the grandstands.
The inaugural Spring Nationals is slated for two nights of racing. Starting on Friday night, April 30th, the Bill Brownell Memorial takes place with winged 360 sprint cars, street stocks and dwarf cars. On Saturday night, May 1st, the popular David Tarter Memorial will play host to the first ever appearance by the traveling Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Dwarf Cars are also scheduled for the Saturday night race. “We are excited to start a new tradition with the Spring Nationals at Chico, said Dennis Gage, track manager. “This weekend will allow our fans and competitors two nights of great racing.
The following weekend, we are set to host another two-day event. On Friday May 7th, the Fabulous Friday night show will feature winged 360 sprints, hobby stocks and street stocks. The following night, May 8th, the speedway is happy to host the final night of the California IMCA Speedweek featuring A-mods and B-mods. “We are always trying to evolve with the times, and we think this California IMCA Speedweek is something our fans and teams have wanted to be involved with for a long time, said Gage.
Fast Cars and Freedom event will take place on July 4th. Fireworks will be on and off the track that night. The traditional experience will feature post-race gigantic aerial fireworks in the sky.
Another new event on July 23rd titled Summer Nationals, a tribute to Chico, will feature four divisions in the same night led by the Hobby Stocks, Winged 360 Sprint Cars, IMCA Sport Mods and Street Stocks.
Former track champion Tyler Wolf will be remembered on August 13th. Four divisions will race that night. Wolf remains the youngest driver to ever win a sprint car track championship at Chico.
It is back and bigger than ever. The Gold Cup Race of Champions kicks off on September 8th and runs through the 11th. The fastest four nights of motorsports will once again feature The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on Friday and Saturday nights. Camping, post-race tomfoolery and on track racing excitement are all key elements of this longstanding racing event.
The Tribute to Stephen Allard is set for October 1st and 2nd. The Fall Nationals event is named in honor of Allard and all his on-track sprint car accomplishments throughout his vibrant life.
As of now, Monster Truck fans can rejoice. Two separate weekends of ground pounding, high flying, rip-roaring excitement is scheduled for the weekend of July 30th and October 15th.
The above-mentioned information is a tentative schedule and subject to change at a moment notice. The Speedway staff is looking forward to hosting these events with the possibility of more being added throughout the year.
