Sanders Wins Night One of Fall Nationals

Sanders Back in Victory Lane at Silver Dollar Speedway

CHICO, Calif., September 27, 2024…Justin Sanders scored the opening night win at the 31st Fall Nationals in tribute to Stephen Allard on Friday night. Sanders passed Tanner Carrick on lap 23 and went on to lead the final seven laps with ease. It was his third win of the season at Chico and 13th during his career at Silver Dollar Speedway. Sanders will head into tomorrow night as one of the favorites to win his first Saturday night race at the Fall Nationals. Carrick drove a solid race and finished second. He led the first 22 laps and established why he has five career wins at Chico by showcasing his fast but calculated style of driving. Shane Golobic rounded out the podium by finishing third. Golobic dropped back to fifth early in the race but by lap 13 had moved into third. He was able to shadow Carrick late in the race but never had an opportunity for the pass.

Tanner Holmes came from the ninth starting spot to finish fourth. Holmes showed speed and was able to get into fourth on lap 13 but never able to advance from there. Kaleb Montgomery charged from his 12th starting spot to a fifth-place finish. Montgomery was able to pass Austin Wood with four laps to go. Austin Wood finished in sixth and was very impressive battling up amongst the veterans for a top five spot. Wood has all the tools to be the next big thing in California sprint car racing.

Heartbreak city for Chance Grasty during the A main. Grasty was running in the second spot and catching leader Carrick. On lap 11, Grasty drifted up and over the turn two exit and spun into the big foam blocks resulting in a violent flip. He walked away from the wreck, but his car was seriously damaged.

On lap five Dylan Bloomfield and Nick Parker collided going down the back stretch, sending both cars off the track in turn three. Under the yellow, Parker left his car and walked over to Bloomfield. Words were exchanged, a brief confrontation, and the two had to be separated. Neither of those drivers continued after the crash.

Corbin Rueschenberg won the 12-lap B main. Following him to the feature event were Josh Young, Justin Henry, and John Clark.

Stephen Ingraham won the 10-lap C main with ease. Dennis Scherer, Brian McGahan Jr., and Bill Smith finished in the top four and advanced to the B main.

Sanders won the six lap, eight car dash. The win placed him on the pole position for the main event. Carrick finished second.

Dominic Gordon earned the overall fastest lap of the night in qualifying. His lap time was 11.827 seconds.
