Bentley Warren to Take Laps with Carter / Snyder No. 44 Coach Modified on Classic Saturday
OSWEGO, NY (August 22, 2019) - Fifty years after winning his first Classic, motorsports icon Bentley Warren will make the trip from Maine to Oswego for next weekend’s Intl’ Classic with plans to take laps in the No. 44 Coach Mod owned by Jim Carter and Dave and Cindy Snyder.
Warren, a six-time Classic winner, will greet fans outside of the speedway throughout Saturday’s program headlined by both the 150-lap Toyota Mod Classic for the NASCAR Whelen Modifieds and the 60-lap Bud Light ISMA Supernationals for the Winged Supers.
Prior to racing getting underway, Warren will then pilot the No. 44 which he drove while the car was owned jointly by Carter and the Snyder family. The Snyders also owned the No. 77 Super which Bentley piloted for many seasons of his storied Oswego career.
Warren and the No. 44 competed all over Central New York on tracks both dirt and asphalt, including in the famed Labor Day race at the New York State Fairgrounds in 1968 and again in 1969 when he finished second to Don Diffendorf.
In the late 60’s, Warren won races on the asphalt at Fulton Speedway, and could be found at the Langhorne and Pocono Raceways in Pennsylvania. Bentley also competed in the first ever Mod 200 at Oswego with the same car.
Classic Saturday’s schedule of events will see grandstands open at 1pm, ISMA time trials at 3:30, ISMA heats at 4:15, NWMT qualifying at 5, the annual driver autograph session at 5:45, and NWMT pre-race ceremonies at 6:45 with main events to follow.
