Blurton Racing Best Friend’s Car This Saturday at Eagle Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (April 25, 2018) – Racing creates the best of friends. Just ask Zach Blurton. He will get the opportunity to race his best friend’s sprint car on Saturday at Eagle Raceway, where he will compete in a team car with Adam Gullion.

Blurton first met Gullion when he raced in his second ever 360ci sprint car race at just 14-years-old.

“It was a deal where everyone was running around the top and I went to the bottom and found rubber,” Blurton said. “I tried to slide him and he cut back under me and stayed in the rubber and won. I ended up buying my truck and trailer from him. We have been friends ever since. Our families vacationed together this year and we’ve gone up to see his family and they came down and went to my racing banquet.

“I’m putting my Tornado Racing Engine in his car for Saturday. Adam will drive this weekend as well. It will be a ton of fun.”

Blurton drove his family-owned 305ci sprint car last Friday at U.S. 36 Speedway in Osborn, Mo., and Saturday at Eagle Raceway. He finished third at U.S. 36.

“There were only seven cars, but four of them were really good cars, including a former Eagle Raceway champion,” he said. “I started fourth and got to second and kept gaining on the leader, but just couldn’t get to a point I could pass him. We caught a lapper and I went into turn three on the bottom and caught a huge rut and pulled a wheelie all the down the frontstretch. You don’t ever see that in our 305s.”

The following night at Eagle Raceway a poor pill draw put Blurton at the tail of his heat race. He finished fifth and had to run the B Main. A second-place result earned a transfer into the rear of the A Main.

“We started 18th so Dad and I decided to try some setups to see how far we could go,” he said. “We learned what not to do and what we want to try. We finished 16th, but learned some things about this new car.”
