ASCS Canyon Region Inks Perris Dates
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (March 31, 2010) – The American Sprint Car Series already sanctions Sprint Car racing events from Florida to New York and Arizona to Washington state, covering the vast majority of the United States.
Now, the popular series is set to encroach upon California soil for the first time with the announcement of a pair of ASCS Canyon Region events at the PAS, Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, CA.
The lone wingless series under the ASCS banner, the ASCS Canyon Region was originated in 2007 and has since set the standard for non-wing Sprint Car racing in Arizona.
Now, the stout Arizona contingent of ASCS Canyon Region competitors will take on the California forces at Perris Auto Speedway on two occasions with events scheduled on May 22 and July 17.
“Perris Auto Speedway has been the premier destination for Wingless Sprint Car racing on the West Coast for the last 14 years, so the addition of a pair of ASCS Canyon Region events at the famed ½-mile clay oval is a natural fit,” commented ASCS President and founder Emmett Hahn.
With the addition of the two PAS events in southern California, the 2010 slate of events for the ASCS Canyon Region now consists of 17 nights of competition with another September date to be determined. Thirteen nights of action are in Arizona, including ten at Tucson’s USA Raceway and three at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park, with a Fourth of July weekend double at New Mexico’s Aztec Speedway also on the slate.
In its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the American Sprint Car Series brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of eleven different Regions throughout the nation.
