Dominic Scelzi Wraps Up World Series Sprintcars Season With Top 10 at Perth

Inside Line Promotions – KWINANA BEACH, West Australia, Australia (Feb. 27, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi wrapped up his first full season with the World Series Sprintcars by scoring a top-10 finish last Sunday at Perth Motorplex.

The 10th-place result was Scelzi’s fourth top 10 of the season in Australia, where he spent the last two months driving for Wormall Motorsport.

“I want to thank everyone at Wormall Motorsport for the great opportunity and the hospitality,” he said. “It was a tremendous experience. We learned a lot and it’s helped me as a driver. I think the last two months of racing will also help me transition into the 2018 season in the United States quickly.”

Last weekend began on Saturday with Scelzi qualifying 13th quickest overall. He advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race, but a crash in the second heat ended the night early for the team.

Scelzi hopped in a sprint car for the Clayden Family on Sunday to be able to finish the season on the track. He was fast out of the box, timing in third quickest overall. Results of ninth and 10th, respectively, in the twin heat races lined Scelzi up on the outside of the ninth row for the main event.

Scelzi maneuvered to a 10th-place finish and he ended the season ranked 12th in the World Series Sprintcars championship standings.

His season in the United States begins this week as Scelzi will invade The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown on Wednesday and Thursday before he makes the trip to Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown on Saturday with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“I’ve normally had a layoff of some type before the season starts in the United States so I’m excited to see how we do since I’ve been racing throughout the offseason,” he said. “I really enjoy The Dirt Track at Las Vegas and Perris Auto Speedway is a unique track so this should be a fun weekend.”

Scelzi’s best result in Las Vegas came in 2015 when he charged from 20th to a ninth-place result to post his first career top 10 with the World of Outlaws. He finished 11th in 2016 during his lone race at Perris Auto Speedway.
