Giovanni Scelzi Venturing to Keller Auto Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway With World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (March 26, 2019) – Giovanni Scelzi will make his first World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series start at a pair of California ovals this weekend.

Scelzi and Roth Motorsports are scheduled to race on Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford and on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris during the SoCal Showdown. It will be Scelzi’s final two scheduled races with the team until September.

“I think we’re getting a better handle on the car with everything being different,” Scelzi said. “Going to a track I’m familiar with in Hanford will help as I can give better input, too.”

Scelzi has competed in sprint car races at Keller Auto Speedway, where he captured his first career sprint car win on May 5, 2017, during only his 24th career start. He set quick time in qualifying and advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race before winning the dash and the main event from the pole.

“That was a pretty cool moment,” he said. “I feel like I had a few opportunities to win before that so I was happy to get that monkey off my back.”

Saturday will mark Scelzi’s first time competing at Perris Auto Speedway.

“I went to the last Turkey Night when they had midgets,” he said. “I thought it was pretty cool. I’m not sure how it will race with winged sprint cars. It might be kind of narrow. I’m assuming there won’t be a lot of cars because that’s a long haul down there so hopefully we’ll have a solid night and can end this West Coast swing on a high note.”

Last weekend’s World of Outlaws events at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., and at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., rained out.
