Daniel Earns Spot Into World of Outlaws Main Event During Debut at Perris Auto Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – PERRIS, Calif. (April 1, 2019) – Mason Daniel made the main event last Saturday during his debut at Perris Auto Speedway, which hosted the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series during the SoCal Showdown.
Daniel qualified 17th quickest before a ninth-place run in a heat race was followed by a third-place outing in the Last Chance Showdown. That locked Daniel into the back of the main event.
“We qualified decent and that was one of the best night’s we were having,” he said. “We had a tire go flat in the heat, but the Last Chance Showdown was one of the strongest races we ran. The first couple of laps during the feature we were jockeying for positions with some guys. There was a red flag and when it went back yellow the jam nut came off on the lower right front radius rod. The radius rod spun itself so the front of the axle was touching the chassis. As I was gassing up to catch up to the field I couldn’t turn the race car. It just went straight into the wall. That was a tough way to end it.”
Unfortunately, the crash ended the night early for Daniel. While the feature result wasn’t what Daniel was aiming for, it was an improvement from the last couple of weeks as well as Friday’s event at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif.
Daniel timed in 25th quickest in qualifying before finishing seventh in a heat race and eighth in the Last Chance Showdown.
“That was my first track I’ve been to that’s been that slick from the get-go,” he said. “It was good to get experience on that track. We got a lot better in the Last Chance Showdown than the beginning of the night. I finally figured out what I needed to do.”
The team heads to the desert this weekend for Outlaws races on Friday at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., during the Wildcat Shootout and on Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., during the Arizona Desert Shootout. It will mark Daniel’s debut at both tracks.
“We’re really excited to start heading back toward Midwest tracks,” he said. “I’ve watched a lot of races in Arizona on video so I’m excited to get there and see them in person.”
